What do you think you'll get out of the 60m-70m? Better players? What players? I mean look at teams buying players for 45m left and right. Pogba is a superstar in the making and one of those guys that every football fan knows and talks about. Players like that don't come to us these days, they go to Real Madrid, Barcelona and City. They have value both on and off the pitch.

And if we sell Pogba, everyone will know we just got paid and will ask for crazy amounts of money for their players. Say we want somebody like Di Maria, he'll probably cost us about 45m just right there. Which leaves what, 20m? What could we get for that these days? I'd rather keep Pogba who every kid in this world idolizes than having Real Madrid's sloppy seconds.
1. Do you honestly, i mean honestly, believe we can hold on to Pogba? Deep inside you know we can't, you know that offer will come and he'll leave. He'll be a superstar alright but he'll be playing for another team then.

2. Someone somewhere in this thread said "drop him" and another asked "And play who instead?". Exactly my point above, we don't have anyone. If we play Asamoah who would play his role? Peluso? If we changed formation and played him as CM who would play on the wings? What about a good LB, do we have one?

3. Yes, players are expensive as hell nowadays but you're forgetting something. Let's just assume PSG were to offer Verratti plus money. You'd have him, Pirlo and Marchisio who could play CDM, and except Pirlo, they can do the CM role in a 4-3-3 plus there's Asamoah. My point here is that by adding top players whatever we had will become subs making it a strong bench and it's needed if you aim to win multiple titles in a long, long season. And there's the money left...

You can either be happy dominating Serie A with what we have and accept we are and will be a disappointment in Europe for a long time to come or make sacrifices to stand a chance. We didn't get past group stage at CL, lost a big deal of money, Yesterday we played against an almost amateurish team and showed how weak our B players are and how our system is total shit when dealing with anyone non-Italian. So yeah, let's keep Pogba when he doesn't sign a new contract and is sold by close to nothing.

We have 4 cms who fight for a starting spot. Did we not play with 3 cms before Pogba came? I don't see your point at all.

i was talking to Zach, we came to the conclusion that what really brought us down this year is our defense, too many errors and lapses in judgement, Chiellini imo has been our most disappointing player over the past year. So instead of getting fucked by other teams in the market IF we were to deal with PSG why not just get players in return, no cash, how would verrati, marqunihos, and a wide player(lucas?) for paul sound?

What 4 Cms? We only have Vidal and Marchisio besides Pogba. Pirlo plays a different role. Padoin shouldn't even be here to begin with and lately he's been played as a RM.

I agree, but i don't think it was all the defense. The errors and mistakes came from pretty much everybody at one point or another. And i would definitely take a deal with PSG including just players into consideration.

Tuttosport mentioned something about Lucas + Verratti + a smaller sum of money.

On top of all that u can add to the list goal scoring, we struggle to score goals in Europe whether thats down to the players or the team not creating enough chances. Then why play a 5-3-2 a defensive formation if we are going to gift the opponents goals? It completely contradicts the formation when we self implode like that. Playing that formation takes some attacking threat away but we should not be conceding silly goals like that.

I blame mostly the formation it promotes defensive play and we have players like Chiellini and Barzagli joining our attack that offer nothing going forward and then get caught out on the counter attack any way. If we had ball playing centre backs the formation could work as well as proper wing backs but we dont have the players to play this formation effectively.

A 4-3-1-2 seems like our best formation for the players we have imo.

thats exactly my point, if we dont gift any of the above wed be playing in CL right now. It doesnt matter what for mation you play when you give away a gift like those in every game, and like i pointed all have been defensive ones, not even a mid guy gifting the ball it was all defensive players who ought to be supr careful and tidy with the ball.

P.S: i didnt even mention the caceres one coz i think 2-2 to madrid aint too bad

Well, seeing as i've never been a Lucas fan, i'd prefer Marquinhos indeed. Problem is, like Pogba he's a star in the making. I hardly doubt PSG would let him go.

Guess i'd take Verratti and Lucas though. I never thought much of him since his São Paulo days and i honestly don't think he'll become anything special, but it seems he's been getting better and is young, which means can be shaped to play in whatever system we decide to play.

If we want to succeed in CL,we should have the ability to outscore the opposition too, something most top sides have the ability to do so.I dont know how many times you guys keep blaming our defense but you just cant always expect the defense to have a perfect game these days.Thats not something we should be RELYING on.

When I meant drop, I meant a game or two. Just like how Conte dropped him aganist Chievo. He sometimes plays too nonchalantly and shows his immaturity. Of Course he should play, but if he is going to put in performances like yesterday then Marchisio could do likewise.
 Yeah, he was so bad that he even scored one. It's incredible how unreasonably you behave at times, along with few other Marchisio fanboys. Honestly this fanboyism is the worst thing that has ever happened on these boards. People actually hope that some players perform badly, not that it was a case here last night, but since it's been rather obvious that you didn't see the game, I'll post few stats that can hopefully point you into right direction.

Number of passes:
Pogba 48
Marchisio 38

Completion:
Pogba 75%
Marchisio 71%

Duels won:
Pogba 8
Marchisio 3

Recoveries:
Pogba 6
Marchisio 2

Tackles
Pogba 2
Marchisio 1

Interceptions:
Pogba 1
Marchisio 0

Created chances:
Pogba 2
Marchisio 0

Goals:
Pogba 1
Marchisio 0

Marchisio's defensive contribution, 1 tackle, 0 interceptions  And you want this guy to play ahead of a real champion. Your logic: Pogba is nonchalant, scores goals, creates chances....but fuk that we can field useless player instead just to make a point here.

Marchisio was very bad yesterday. The same with Peluso.

Peluso even got booed when he let a ball escape on the line without too much pressure.

These statistics do not represent the tactical flow of Marchisio :snoop:
:agree: Oh, how could I forget it. :sergio: All that running up and down the pitch without actually intercepting a single pass, putting in staggering 1 tackle, impeccably holding his position... oh my, he truly is a wonderful player. Such tactical intelligence.

Tactical Flo? I think I dated her once.

A bit of a whacked out doomsday prepper, but she could make a mean boar stew.

refer to the post before the one you quoted, thats a major mistake in every game, you cannot recover from that, and though i dont agree that we have a problem scoring gols, you have to aslo take into consideration that llorente needed time in the beginning of the year to settle in. I am firmly convinced our problems are defensive, if there are 2 starting positions i can upgrade on the team they would undoubtedly be bonucci and chiellini, even ahead of our wing woes.
