I hope he struggles at Manure becomes frustrated with their continuing downward spiral, severely damages his confidence and developement yet becomes stuck at a team that won't sell him regardless of what he wants. He never wins the CL, an international trophy or the Balon D'or and is left to wonder what could have been for the rest of his life.

:agree:

Hopefully he goes down the same path as Robinho... Success at his first big club, and then abject failure for the rest of his career. :D

Its a strange decision by him. But if he wanted to leave, I am glad he chose Manchester as they won't be a threat to us. Would be more upset if he went to Real Madrid.

I have a gut feeling that there is a lot more to this story and he may come out and say that Juventus were encouraging him to leave. That wouldn't surprise me either. Perhaps Marotta took a view that with Raiola as his agent, he was never going to commit to the club and decided to take the money while he could to bring in Higuain and Pjanic.

I share that sentiment, but I hope after struggling for 3 seasons, and having a horrible World Cup, he regrets leaving Juve in the first place, and demands a transfer to us. We duly oblige with a loan + obligation to buy fixed at 60 million Euros. He wins the CL with us in 2020, then we resell him to Madrid in 2022, at 29 years of age, for a fee of 70 million Euros.

I don't like this transfer one bit. It is definitely a major coup for United to get one of the hottest names in football with no CL and after poor campaigns. They are going with Real Madrid "business" model and Pogba is their galactico signing. It is such a shame that we couldn't hold on Pogba because it seemed that finally this year with pjanic and Higuain we were gonna be back at the top, together with Bayern, RM and Barcelona.

However we took a step back and unless we sign a big name, not the matuidis and witsels of the world, this sell could be the wrong move. United went through something similar when they sold Ronaldo to Madrid and didn't reinvest properly. They went downhill afterwards. When we sold zidane we got Buffon, Nedved and Thuram. Is Pjanic and Higuain enough? Personally I don't think so.

Disappointed about Pogba and his social media antics. I will miss him seeing playing on the pitch and I just hope that we are finally done with this selling BS. Nevertheless, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if next summer dybala is gone.

Anyway, I had enough of this mercato and this whole Pogchao saga. I am going under the radar until season starts.

Well, people tend to make judgements about any mercato prematurely. Just like last year when we signed Dybala, Sandro and Mandzukic early on - only to lose Tevez, Pirlo and Vidal.

The selling of Zidane and the purchase of Nedved, Thuram and Buffon often is talked about. However, it is important to remember that Those 3 purchases cost MORE than what we got from Zidane. Its not like 1 player in this market gets you 2 or 3 world class players anymore.

You have to look at the mercato as a whole to make a final judgement.

So far:

OUT: Caceres, Cuadrado, Pogba, Morata
IN: Alves, Benatia, Pjanic, Pjaca, Higuain.

I still think its a good mercato but things can get better or worse before Aug 31.

People also forget that we sold Inzaghi for some 35M that same summer we sold Zidane....

I shall wait until CL group stage is over to decide upon a rating of this mercato. It's stupid to rate it before that, when there are so many changes.
