Bad stuff. Salary shouldnt decide if a player stays or not
When the disparity between the high earners and the youngsters is so big, whilst we remain in what looks like a financial mire, this problem will sadly remain.

Hopefully he accepts the dry loan safe in the knowledge, that the fossil is unlikely to be in charge next year, so he could finally get a chance.

He'll have a good season then come back once Rabiot and Arthur leave, probably McKennie, and the club finally realise that Pogba is injury-prone.

At the moment there are just too many players on the books.
So, if Rabiot and Arthur are gone next summer. Then Fagioli and Rovella return and we are still crowded in midfield. One of Zakaria or McKennie would need to go as well. That is before considering any midfield signings next season.

Its a difficult problem to resolve since we loaded up on average or below average midfielders.

So far seems like Fagioli will be the only one actually loaned out for now, regarding Rovella i think there is still a very good chance he might eventually stay put.

I'd bet that not all of Miretti, Rovella and Fagioli will work out. It's entirely possible that long term maybe only 1 of the 3 will stay. But only one of them staying this season is a testament of how poor of a job we're doing in balancing the squad for 2nd year running.

Long term what we should build towards is having a healthy squad structure in each area, f.e. in midfield we should have 2-3 high earning leaders, 1-2 experienced backups on a reasonable salary and ~2 emerging talents. Right now we're in a mess, the sooner we get rid of Rabiot, Arthur and stop risking similar future situations (hello Pogba and Paredes) the better.

McKennie or Zakaria or Bentancur as squad players are completely fine, we don't need 23 starters. It's the guys on starter wages that suck ass that are the problem.

Di Marzio says Monza medical tomorrow

That’d be sad, seen some rumors recently that they are still waiting for the green light so thought maybe there is a slight chance he could stay…. But i just checked twitter too now and i see Agresti also confirms it’s a done deal now.

Not happy about this, i know it’s forced by the circumstances but is quite sad because he is actually better than most of those that we are forced to keep.

Well yeah, that shows little faith in Rovella, but Allegri does like experience. Fagioli I see more in the LCM/advanced position and there are about 4 players who play there.
Fair enough.

Personally, however, I don't have any idea what we're doing anymore. Last summer, our transfer campaign at least made sense. Regardless of it being a good one or a bad one. Now, I'm just confused.

It's the buying team that decides this not us. Nobody wants to pay that amount of money for players who don't deserve it. We fucked up by over paying these bums and now we can't get rid of them.
Yes but ‘we can’t get rid of them’ equals ‘play them’ at this club. I’m questioning the way of doing business. Rabiot from being sold/practically no pre season to a starter, Zakaria from being here for a half season to the transfer list, Dybala from renewal to leaving for free only to get Milik, Fagioli from a renewal and staying to leaving because we have expensive player who we can’t sell. It’s not convincing me.

But it’s in the line of things we can expect here sadly enough.

This should have been done this summer. Pogba, Locatelli, Miretti, Rovella, Fagioli, one of Rabiot/Zakaria/McKennie. Then next summer you sell the last bum a d evaluate what kind of mid you need to sign based on how the kids do, Pogba status etc. We are wasting another year doing nothing
