We have plenty of engineers, and many that need work. I myself am trying to get an entry level dev role, but they seem to be very difficult to find.

I'm sure in many cases this is true. But in others it's just an excuse for billion dollar companies to pay less than you would have to for an American.

Just looking here and assuming it's true, you're telling me they can't find an entry level QA or a front end dev anywhere in the United States? That sounds like bullshit to me.

And I'm not at all saying end the program, I'm saying Musk is a lying piece of shit and wants to hoard more money from the American middle class.
I mean, basically all of the QA I work with are Indian Americans or Canadians

Tesla even abuses international students on internships. I knew a guy who was hired as an intern with low pay and no benefits hoping he’ll get a full time offer at the end. He ended up working 60 hours a week and once internship was over no job offer was waiting for him. He was replaced by another intern.
Zuck and Gates lobbied Obama admin for increasing H1-B quota 5 fold, but couldn’t get it passed through Congress. If you think those schmucks give a shit about US I have a bridge to sell you.

obviously the H-1B visa should be a thing for the very top talent but its also clearly not being used for just that, is being abused to hire cheap labor, and people who can't leave the company without getting deported.. Indian or not American workers should not have to compete with the rest of the world for jobs and housing.

Elon is obviously a liar as Tesla is one of the biggest abusers of the H1B
Top talent has a different visa category already. It’s the O1 I think. H1B also has salary requirements, so it’s not necessarily slave wage labor. It’s still probably on the lower end, but not ridiculously low. Not sure what the enforcement is like. The L1B is the visa category that was well abused and probably still is. But I think around 2020 they started rejecting a lot of visas in that category because of the abuse.
The H1B visa tied to the employer is a great advantage for the employer if the employee is Indian or Chinese as the current waitlist to get a green card for those nationalities are ridiculously long. For other nationalities, the employers generally don’t have that advantage.

What happened in Canada?
The whole canadian economy is propped up by a crazy speculation inflated real estate market, largely due to huge influx ofmmigrants and foreign mone.
This sudden influx of mostly indian immigrants is also changing the cultural makeup of canadian society. And I yet to find a canadian whos happy about it, especially 1st and 2nd generation indians.

LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) basically our version of America's HB1, that plus insane amount of international students and all of that from 1 specific region in India.

The international student thing is pretty fascinating and hilarious, basically Canada been having for the longest time A LOT of international Chinese students and they had the bright idea to piss them off. They ended up detaining and/or freezing the assets, not sure of the details, of the daughter of Huawei while she was in Canada. Then in turn China got mad and told it's international students that it wasn't a good idea to go to Canadian universities. So that basically left a giant hole in expected revenues because Chinese international student pump insane amount of money in Canada, both in studies and in real estate (buy a condo for the 4 years in uni, then rent it out). In order to fill in missing Chinese students they ended up trying to replace the affluent Chinese students with not so affluent Indian students.

For a while a lot of these international students would go to legitimate universities and colleges, but eventually there was a bunch of scams. From people coming into the country as students and never enrolling, to full on organizations that are based in India that would literally milk some of these poor students for every dollar they have by selling them a dream then end up going to some literal diploma mill. Now there's a large swath of international students that have expired students visas that are protesting to stay. All of this is on the international student side of things.

While on the LMIA program, it was initially for labour shortage but then it ended up being a way for employers to suppress wages and abuse their employees. Not to even get into how certain fields are completely cornered and taken over by a single set of people. Either way shit's been crazy all around.

Canada is fucked in more than one way, I don't see how they'll be able to fix this. And Pollievre is a goof and people that pin their hopes on him are just as retarded as americans that pin their hopes on trump
