HP endorsed Monsters vs. Aliens like crazy! was it really that bad?

I fucking hated it. It was trying too hard to be funny. Maybe I expected too much. The animation was good, some of the action was good for a kids movie. There were a couple times I chuckled a bit. But there were too many long periods of time where I was wishing we were somewhere else.

edit: For what it's worth, my son liked it, though he wasn't laughing much through the movie. He's 7. Hardly anyone in the theater was laughing.

Just saw Gomorra. I thought it was a good movie. I went back and read what some of you had to say about it and some of you make a good point (mikhail, greg) about us not being 'connected' to any of the characters but maybe that's the point? It felt like it was a blend of a film and a documentary and like most documentaries you get to see the overview and you don't really get to connect with any one person. That's just my take on it.

just watched changeling. i thought it was a great movie, i have to say i freaked out cos it is based on a true story. i think it is one of the best movies i have seen in a while now.
