Picked up Criterion's new blu-ray of Lynch's Mulholland Drive about a month ago. Finally got around to watching the film again tonight, 5-6 years on from the 2nd time I'd watched it. Fucking amazing. I cannot recall the conversations about Lynch here, I recall opinion being quite split on him, especially films like Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Inland Empire... but this one is just so damn brilliant, from atmosphere, to the narrative, to the rug being pulled from beneath that narrative, to the acting, to the score... amazing.
WTF did I just watch :D

It's amazing though.

And on that note. Why the hell did they have to delay Season 3 of Twin Peaks until 2017. Now I just want the next year to go by in a flash. So damn excited after being so worried when Lynch said he was leaving the project. 2017, hurry up and arrive.
The black lodge can wait :klin:

Mullholand Drive is one of my Lynch favorites. Lost Highway on the other hand is just wtf for the sake of being wtf, didn't really enjoy it.

Btw @Post Ironic have you seen this? the amount of mindfucking it must have been to watch this back when it came out had to be astronomical. While today's crap generation is all excited for the next superhero movie :howler:

And Tubular Bells was the soundtrack. Today it's probably Rihanna or some shit like that :howler:

:agree:

Kids are ridiculous today. My 12 year old nephew goes on about shit like The Hunger Games and every single "latest" Marvel or DC superhero movie. I just shake my head.

My Pops was telling me when he saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre in theatres back in '74, one of his friends ran down the aisle wearing a mask and revving a chainsaw... Most everyone in the theatre screamed. You do that today, and probably spend quite a bit of time in jail.

BTW, it's crazy that Mulholland Drive was originally conceived as a TV series Pilot. Imagine that film turning into a TV show. Would be pretty epic if you ask me. All the exploration of those themes that could have gone on. I know Lynch is pretty disillusioned with film at the moment, so I hope he continues onward with Television stuff after Twin Peaks Season 3.
