I saw the U.S. version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Now I'm a huge fan of Fincher. But some of the best moments of this film seemed like retreading old Seven ground. And while it had none of the false leads as the book did, it's still executed well. Not sure I'd say it's one of last year's best, however, nor among Fincher's best. But worth a watch.
I liked it as well. I also enjoyed that he cut out a lot of the needless sub-plots, such as Mikael/Cecilia affair.

Ok, I need some help here. There's some movie about a volcano erupting and destroying some town (in the mountains IIRC). Main chars were some guy, women and her child and their dog I think. They were stuck there, had some troubles, their grandmother died etc. I watched it many years ago but that's all I remember... does anyone have a clue which movie is that?

heard about it, almodovar right? not a big fan of his tbh
yep, it's an Almodovar movie ... haven't seen anything else of his apart from "Talk to Her", which I liked a lot too. The Skin I Live In, however, is quite different than the melodramatic movies he is known for ... it has more of a creapy, dark, EU-horror feel
