JAWS was on TV last night - Still in my Top 5 of all time.
That is a great flick. As much as it commercially destroyed most American cinema forever.

A few things I saw on the plane getting here...

Moneyball - Good. See it. Hard to make a good story out of statistics, but they did it.

Contagion - I actually liked this movie. Part of that might be because I'd like to see Gwyneth Paltrow die of a fatal disease. But it's not the sort of movie you want to see on a plane on the way to India if you don't like getting all self-conscious...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - OK, I don't get it. I had so many friends and people that this was one of the best-made movies of last year. After seeing it, I would rather watch Biodome. Absolute crap. Sad acting, a flaky story, fake-looking monkeys everywhere doing non-sensical things. Ugh. Probably the worst movie I watched last year. Burn the originals, please. Humanity should do without.

I watched that a week or 2 ago. It's not that bad.

Last 3 for me are:
Dead Air - Some fairly good, original ideas but the execution is a bit lacking.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice - I can deal with kids movies, but this one was clearly aimed at mentally challenged kids. Can't really think of anything that was good about this.

Towelhead - In a word: Impressive. Think it's brilliant how they dealt with the tricky subject matter, and it's surprisingly fun to watch as well. Great performances all around, but special mention to the girl.

Great movie... Also there are some awsome movies from its scenarist Charlie Kaufman like Human Nature, Adaptation, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind... and one of my favourite films ever "Synecdoche, New York" where he was also as a director !

no kidding I've watched LOTR movies a total of 6 times this past 2 weeks, with Two Towers taking the cake.
watched fellowship of the ring last night. easily one of my favourite trilogies alongside the alien movies (i dont count the 4th :inter:)

just back from seeing the girl with the dragon tattoo, very impressed with it. i'm sure a lot of you will say the original is better so i'm gonna have to put aside some time to watch that soon and compare. on a side note, it had one of the coolest intros to a movie i've ever seen

Great ! After that share your impressions about them. Synecdoche is quite extraordinary... a lot of my friends have found it booooring and senseless.
