Inglourious Basterds.

A very thrilling and entertaining movie but I think Tarantino screwed it up towards the end. I don't mind him contorting the history and I don't mind Hitler getting killed like that but first: there must be a logical and believable reason for Hitler attending such a show without proper security guards. I mean how the hell do they let two Italian filmmakers get into the saloon where Hitler is present? How the hell don't they check on the smallest details before Hitler coming there? It wasn't supposed to be a comical Scary Movie but it struck me as one at times.

Second: Why on earth Tarantino changed the Walts character so drastically in the end? Germans believed that they were going to win the war so why on earth should Walts think about helping the Allies right when he has everything under control? How is this logically acceptable for a supposing intelligent man like him to trust Aldo in the end?

With a better ending it would have been a much better movie. 7/10 for me.

Hoori, your mistake is expecting logic in a Tarantino movie. This guy is all about entertainment and the awesomeness factor.

Well it sucks. He says his idols are Scorsese and Kubrick but he will never be even close to them if he doesn't make his films believable. He's been on a downfall since Pulp Fiction. Inglourious Basterds was sure much better than Grindhouse and Death Proof but it was nowhere near the greatness of Pulp Fiction IMO.

i do agree with yr take on the story hoori and when u refer to walts i think u should add that it made the killing of Bridget von Hammersmark quite pointless bec at the end of the day he himself sold his allegiance.

it could've made sense if tarantino did not build up the "ideal solider" characteristic that walts had and the reputation he had. so this move really canceled out the first scene of the movie where walts was looking for the jews hiding under the floor board of the french mans house.

italians and germans were allies in wwii, plus, hitler was betrayed by his head of security.

the thing about walts, is that he was very very very smart. he realized the germans would never win and he found a way to get on top again.

Austria-Hungary was WWI. Austria was part of Germany during WWII (Anschluss). Hungary were kind of reluctant allies of Germany at that time.

Anyway, Bes' point earlier stands. Italians wouldn't have found it any harder to get near Hitler than regular Germans.
