Public Enemies

Quite good, but didn't really succeed at pulling me in.

EDIT: Marion Cotillard deserves a big
She deserves way more then one thumb :D

There is just something about french actresses ;) She did the impossible task of making me forget about Audrey Totou who I was smitthen with after Amelie, after discovering her, god damn :eyebrows:

Jean-Pierre Jeunet created a French favorite in Deli, but something about Amélie reeked of such unfashionable optimism that I couldn't help but really enjoy it. I'm often a pretty cynical guy -- calling for jihad on Tiger Woods, for a recent example. So for me to find Amélie that entertaining was a bit of a surprise, as was the material from its source.

Call it "dumb" if you like. But not everything I watch can be Cidade de Deus.

(It also doesn't hurt that it's the Francophone version of my wife's name. :D)

Sheesh, people are printing "we want Balotelli dead" and I get in trouble for saying Amelie was dumb? It's time you adjust your sensibilities, people.

In trouble? I was kidding based on past movie hang up with you :D

But I maintain what I said of Amelie in terms of praising it, Swag said it well, it just makes you smile, very unique movie, I didnt bother analyzing it, it just made me grin and was very lovely. Perfecting word to describe it is the very definition of charming :)

European cinema, for the most part, is pretty jaded. High art is often equated with dark humor, morbidity, and angst. Amélie comes off as a daring movie in that context.

If Disney made it, I'd probably need an extra large shot of insulin to keep from going into a sugar coma. But given its roots, it kind of demonstrated a kind of anti-anti-establishment. Kind of like the way a Norwegian band like Turbonegro can rebel against the rebellion of the local black metal by playing up the gay image.

then he should make it a short 5-8 minutes kind like this: a whole movie is too much and my apologies to the wifey ;)

Exactly, it isn't one of those movies that makes you analyze what's going on, but when it ended I didn't want those two hours of my life back.
