That's why I like you Martin, you never fail to see the bright side :D

BTW

Gentleman, I strongly recommend you stay the fuck away from cinemas this weekend...
I can only imagine how much you'd brag about it if you went into porn :D

I stay away from them all the time, so no problem. Every time I'm thinking of seeing a movie in this country there's never anything interesting playing.

Why? The lame ass New Moon craziness??
DA! You can't switch on a TV without seeing that gayboy's mug. God, that guy is awkward.

Back to Philip Seymour Hoffman... I'm just gonna throw it out there: That guy could have played The Joker just as good as Ledger did.

That may very well be true. Ledger was great, but Hoffman is just a level above most actors.

Watched a small, little known indie by the name of Wristcutters: a love story last night, starring Patrick Fugit & Shannyn Sossamon. Pretty quirky, enjoyable film with some good & amusing ideas, but I think it would have worked better as a short.

riiiight, epitome of intellectualism indeed. Gay jokes. Insanely obvious and stereotypical ethnic jokes. omg it makes my brain fire on all cylinders!
There are so many levels you can take sacha baron cohens comedy on, if you dont like that humour you are meant to be laughing at the institutions he is mocking or the audience that are finding it funny. He is from a Jewish background and uses ethinic stereotyping to exploit his audiences bigotry.

You know here's the thing. With a really brilliant comedian you could say "there are so many levels to his comedy". And sometimes there are. But with Cohen there isn't a single one of them that's funny. They're all inhumanely predictable and/or mind numbing.

I would settle for a single level if only it was good.

Surely if that was funny, or any part of his routine was funny, I would not have to have this explained to me?

People are bigots, they're ignorant. I know this, it's not a revelation. On comes a jackass who makes fun of everyone. That in itself doesn't make him funny. I can poke fun at people too, I don't need this guy.
