Cheesy implies its done little bit poorly, while this was quite a genuine movie, its truly heartfelt story, and yeah sentimental is perfect word for it.

Fuck, sorry. :D I'll give you a few recommendations then. Two seconds.

These are all movies I've seen this year:
Wild Tales - Don't let it scare you away that it's a movie from Argentina. It's five really entertaining short stories filled with morbid humor.
Beasts of No Nation - Exactly what you expect, but nevertheless a truly haunting film about child soldiers.
The Gift - Underrated thriller about home-invasion. Plot is quite clichéd, but it's very well done.
Kajaki aka Kilo Bravo Two- Reaaaaaally intense war movie about a group of British soldiers caught in a minefield.
Labyrinth of Lies - German movie about a lawyer digging up former nazis during the Cold War. A bit too Hollywoodish, but a very interesting story.

But that's the best one. :D Trust me, it's both entertaining and hilarious.

Also, there's a character in the movie that reminds me of @IliveForJuve. Spoiled teenager is driving under the influence and kills a man, but his father wants the hardworking gardener to take the blame. I'd expect ILiveForJuve to blame his maid if he did the same.

And no, that's not a spoiler. :D
