What's rugani for, kid deserves his chance, Nd benatia too expensive to be just a sub

We don't need a starting CB
Personally I think Benatia and Rugani are being lined up to take over for the aging Barzagli and eventual Chiellini decline. One injury prone and one is on the wrong side of age. It would be amazing depth to keep our main back 3 cued up for CL ties and the big league matches.

Marotta said 2 key players for each position so its obvious Rugani is behind one of the back 3 with Benatia being being another.

But you need one good enough to be a starter when one goes down. Do we want another Ogbonna? Nah, no thank you.

I agree with Hustini. Not so long ago Barzagli was out for an entire season. The fact he was fit all the time recently cannot be taken for granted. We usually play with 3 CBs, we can't only have Rugani as backup. Plus, Chiellini is very injury prone and receives a lot of yellows.

Loan + option is a nobrainer.

So we only bought Pjanic because of Marchisio's injury? Otherwise we would have Khedira-Marchisio-Pogba, where does Pjanic fit? And going with your logic, when Marchisio comes back we sell one of the before mentioned players?

Barzagli might not be able to handle 3 competitions next year. We know already Chiellini is good for at least 2 injuries and god forbid we have another 60+ injury season next year.

Caceres is leaving we know so that means we need a strong CB. Most of the players on the bench of Real & Barca can walk into just about any team in Europe with the exception of a very small number even then its still debatable.

If we want to be a top 3 club we need a top 3 bench.

They do need another central defender though. Having four in a 3-5-2 formation is asking for trouble. Do they need a Benatia quality 5th CB? Probably not. That is a little too pricey, unless the price is just too good to pass up

If we can get him on or terms without making too much of a sacrifice, he would come good.

It depends on what formation allegri wants to use more. If we are into heavy 352, another CB is a must,, because last season we overplayed Bonucci and Barzagli, and Chiello and barza could be injured for a considerable amount of time between the 2.

Rugani and another dude are needed just in case.

If there is a loan with no obligation (which is unlikely) do it. If loan+buy and price is ok do it.
He is no young and green though, 29 years.

Id still pass it up, rugani has to be the go to guy in rotation, like you said what we need a 5th CB and rugani shouldnt be it

Only Rugani as a back up for all three BBC is just simply not enough. Especially we play with 3 in the back. Suspension, injuries will jeopardize our chance in CL.

if he's cheap or we could get him on loan we should do it. chiellini and barzagli won't play every game and caceres is leaving. We have 4 players for 3 positions, if someone is injured or suspended at CL knockout phase we're fucked.

I'm pretty sure this was in the post you quoted "we need a 5th CB"
And if he's cheap Benatia is a great fit for that role, especially considering that we're gonna need a Barzagli replacement in a year or two, when he decides to hang up his boots and find the cure for cancer instead. And we're gonna need four top class CBs for a three man backline.

We just shouldn't overpay, but if he's offered to us on a good deal he would be a great addition.
