He was so far ahead of everybody else in the late 90’s to early 00’s. He had an amazing system with a fast build up attack that was a joy to watch. He did so well he ended up managing Real Madrid I think around 04 or 05 but got sacked after just one season because his ideas got found out quickly.

Went back to Brazil, never managed in Europe again and to this day still claims he’s the best and Brazilian coaches are just as good when clearly he’s outdated and out of touch with reality. It’s the Brazilian Mourinho and I guess now the Brazilian Allegri.

Yup, gave them all the grounds they’ve been looking for, not even planned, just Allegri shooting himself in the foot by going crazy and taking it too far with the Vaciago scuffle and publicly disrespecting his superior Giuntoli during the Coppa celebrations, if he would’ve stopped at the VAR/Rocchi bashing i think he was likely still in for the full last paycheck, now however it’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out as the board sure seem to have the upper hand.

Unless Max had a DUI or some illegal charge against him didn't think it would be possible to not pay him the full amount owed for next year. Now my only experiences comes from US sports and the liberal backing of unions etc etc that always seem to have players/coaches back even if they are charged with an offense.

Hopefully what you say does happen and reduced "moderate" settlement occurs which I always thought the fairest way to proceed. Who knows maybe Juve higher-ups tell Max they will do everything possible to squash the story of Max's behavior putting him in a better light if he takes less money. Or if not, they proceed like you stated with leverage but hard-ball style making Max getting another job more difficult (though no doubt will easily happen) but more importantly for Max having to accept a lesser salary.

IMO depends who Max has representing him if he goes that way vs Juve representatives. Hopefully this gets settled amicably.

He was great on his day. Very innovative, probably one of the first to apply a modern mentality to Brazilian football. His mistake was going straight to Madrid. Could’ve earned some European experience at a smaller club and work his way up. Expectations were just too high. As with anything in life if you don’t adapt you get left behind so similar to our own Mister.

btw I think one of the reasons he managed so many clubs is that in Brazil it’s very common to get the boot after just a few bad results. Some coaches will manage 3 different clubs in the same season. Not sure if this is still true but it used to be that way.
