Lots of folks are being too harsh on the player, which is not very surprising.
Just a couple months ago some of the same people praised the lad for his performance against Inter where he was everywhere and didn't let a single man through. His tackling, along with his speed, stopped several attacks from a few of the best players in the league. The tackle on Milito in the box was quality. But of course, now that he has another boneheaded game, the cats out of the hat and he isn't worth the time anymore.
You can't be a horrible player to shut down the likes of Milito and Sneijder. Clearly the guy has a tendency to make very poor decisions while defending, especially in situations where he does have support behind him. Caceres did the same thing in the playoff against Argentina -- needless tackle when he thought he was the last man but was not, yet still got the red. It's not that he's poor in reading the game apart from reading when to dive in, something that takes practice and patience.
So if he can be taught not to recklessly dive in all the time and contain a bit more, improving his timing and overall decision-making, he won't be a bad defender. Caceres has the agility and athleticism to be a menace back there.
And this is coming from someone who was not and still isn't convinced of him. Many folks tend to go overboard when they see someone young put in stellar performances, just like today when you see some automatically rule them out after a game, so be advised that many posts you read are hyperbole. Caceres has put in a fair share of good games and extremely poor ones, but so have other players in Juventus, even the likes of Moli who had a free ride for two full seasons as a starter.
Lets wait until the end of the season to judge his ability. Hopefully he will improve. WHo knows, maybe even his price could come down after this.

You can argue all you want yet facts stay the same. When did Canna make that error that cost us a game?
FFS, just recall that Bayern game where he was truly phenomenal and for that he's better than Ferdinand who has been poor lately with him strugling with injuries and making some very silly mistakes (EX: Utd- City game) but almost all the time he has Vidic to cover for his silly ass while when Gorgio is not ther Canna has to deal with a modest defender called Legro.
As Pique, the guy is huge and his play is all about this phisical presence he's got. He rarely has a decent tackle in a game while yes his offensive controbutions are great but other than that he does nothing.
And a note here to all of you, Im talking about this season the shit these boys done last season weren't taken into consideration.

How many times did people change their opinion about Caceres so far? Like 5 times at least.
His forward runs can be great, crosses are nice too. On the other side his decisions are awful from time to time, he's really inconsistent. You can watch him till the end of the season, I doubt much will change. I wonder if he'd make a good partner next to Chiellini though. I'd like to see that now. But the guy seems even more crazy than Montero.
But it's very simple, his release clause is 12mln euros and he's not worth it at all.

In the Cagliari game we were down 1-0. If that is a lost game according to you, I guess we should just stop playing every time we go a goal down. Sounds like a plan.
From now on we should agree that only the first fuckup of our players (most likely defenders) counts. Once the first goal has been conceded they should be free to screw up as many times as they want. THAT DOES NOT COUNT. Kinda like how scoring a 1-0 is very important, while scoring the 2-0 is just a useless goal.

Maybe there were worse players than him during those games, maybe there weren't. That has absolutely nothing to do with your initial point.
