Yes, this wasn't an important goal at all.

:D
Let's not do that ok, I have no interest in linking videos from Euro 2000 final, or some other tournament he choked when it mattered.

If anything he made it up somewhat with his penalty in 2006, this goal you posted was just a bonus goal not a crucial one.

Only for the Azzurri. Other than that, he was quite the opposite.
For sure that's what I meant by international, I wouldn't even dare to say otherwise, he was a beast in CL and other international club competitions.

I used to care more in past about this, but now that i'm no azzurri fan, I don't care that he choked with them, all that matters is that he did magic with my team :)

The first time I saw him was 98. But I've done my bit of studying on him, tapes videos etc. People tend to romanticize the past in a dramatic way.

There is no romanticising about it, the Divine One was better than Henry, simple as that. It shouldn't even be up for debate.

Alex for the majority of his international career didn't put in performances like he did for us, his misses in the Euro 2000 final were shocking for a man of his talent.

Don't remember really, it's somewhere in my memory :)

He almost never played for azzurri the he did with Juve and he did had a habit of missing easy chances with them too.
Except for euro 2000, there is no other tournament you can highlight as an incident in which he choked. He wasn't a starter in WC 2002, still it was him who scored the equalizer and Italy sucked as a whole. In Euro 2004 he was again not a starter, Italy couldn't get passed the group stages and Ale had a great game against Sweden, was unlucky with his chip. In WC 2006 he was a bench player who scored a great goal against Germany, came in as a sub in final and scored his penalty. In euro 2008 he was again a bench player and Italy sucked hard as a whole and were eliminated against Spain. So no, apart from euro 200 final, he never choked for Italy but wasn't magnificent either first because he didn't get regular playing time and second because except in 2006, Italy has always had awful tournaments since 2000.

We will have to disagree on this. I think he choked a lot on international stage, because expectations were high on him, considering how he performed with us, and he never brought that intensity to the national side, which by his speeches seemd that he always wanted to.

Here people always tend to let it slide when it's Del Piero and I somewhat understand that, but I don't agree with it. For me ether you were expecting him to perform with national team and he almost never did, or you didn't had high expectations for him to begin with.

I'm not taking away what a great player he was, but just saying that he was nowhere near great for national team and considering expectations put on him he choked big time in my eyes.

Don't go off topic, when did he choke except for euro 2000 final? And, except WC98, there were never high expectations of him, he was always a bench player you know? Even when he won the Capocannoniere he was benched for Di Natale.

Tell me specifically when he choked except the euro 2000 final now.
