the US is the single reason this situation is so messed up, it has blocked almost a 1000 UN resolutions against israel and allowed them free reign to do what they want, it can even be argued it went to war for the jewish state in a few instances. The only real hope in my opinion is the emergence of a strong pole on the other side, china russia brazil etc... to rectify the balance. Israel will never allow the arabs to have their state otherwise.

so we went from judging the actions of a state, black and white, to generalizing about a diverse billion people who speak hundreds of languages? Luca does make an interesting point, though. As far as outrage that hits our ears here in the "west" it is almost exclusively limited to the "the outside enemy" ie. Israel or anyone challenging the religion. Meanwhile there are countless atrocities in places like Syria or Bahrain that never provoke the kind of large scale populist protests that a few cartoons did. So what does that mean? It means that either news reporting in the "west" is unforgivably ideological (but also incredibly consistent across various countries for some strange reason) or these atrocities just don't cause the same kind of mobilization.

No. The Slavic genocide in WW2 in terms of numbers, was much more severe than the jewish Holocaust. But you can't say that today because you'll be labelled as an anti-semite. Imagine the amount of ridicule I would receive if I to this day still hung on to the fact that close to 32 million slavs died in WW2 and therefore I should get special treatment today.
I'm no anti-semite, I'm just vehemently against the state of Israel in it's current form. It's the closest I get to being militant. I can't believe that systematic opression of an ethnic group is being tolerated in the West, furthermore it weakens our moral high ground and argues the case should Europe be allowed to intervene anywhere in the world if we are not coherent in our stance against opression?

The root of the problem is the British, thinking that they know better than the local population. But the Palestinian leaders are largely responsible for the mess they are in now. They were offered land on multiple occasions but always rejected. I understand them on one hand, but the compromises offered were generous and Israelis were backed by the international community. Israel now has an upper hand, and after almost a century of terroists attack against them will surely never be as generous as they were in the past.

Also Palestinas thought neigbouring Arab countries were their friends, but they suffered under them. They should stop thinking that. Every country has its own agenda.

Obviously coming to a common agreement just isn't going to happen, but is it necessary to put people down? Sure there are some peeps here that have experienced more or even read a few more books then the next guy but is it really justified to flat out insult?
