In Islam, there is no separation between people and religion, state and religion. Religion is exactly in the middle of people's life. If you try to separate, or even worse, force people to live like you tell them to do, this is what you get. Here in the west, we rate a society on how it is doing with the absolute basic rights. A big factor in that are female rights, but also laws made by logic and not religion etc.
Every fully developped western country, has reached pretty much the same level.

When we look at islamic society's, we can see they arent there yet. Now many people, including the prof who gave us the course, will then state that those society's are inferior to ours, because despite the things in wich they are doing better, the absolute basic rights arent implemented yet.
A second part is that if we see blatant abuse of females or groups, that we should military intervene, if talks dont work

Now here is my very unpopular opinion about that. I really think neighter side will agree with it.

I think Islam societys are at a point where the western society's domminated by catholic church were about 200 years ago. I myself refuse to call them inferior (unless i want to piss off people by saying something i dont mean), because i personally think, that they just didnt reach our stage of development yet. And when they do, they could possibly have a better society then what we have now, because of the hospitality thats imbedded in islam culture.

Now, i also strongly believe, we shouldnt invade any country, whatever happens there. If you invade a country, they'll see you as occupants. If you go to a country, and tell them how to do things, that will not be accepted. I think we should provide aid at the borders, and offer people who flee a save haven. But we should NOT invade a country.
Let them do what we did in the west, between the middle ages and know. Leaders and dictatorships come and go, revolutions against that come and go. Let the society evolve at its own pace, dont interfere. Only when the people of the country say "we must separate church and state" or that they want certain rights we consider basic, THEN they will accept it. Not when we go there and tell them how to do things.

Everyone in class disagreed. The muslim guy refused the idea that they were 3 century's behind, and the others refused the idea we shouldnt invade to restore order and implement basic human rights.


We the west, had horrific stuff between the middle ages and now, but its how we became where we are today. Allow other country's to get there in their own way, at their own pace. and respect souverinity.
