As things stand across his career, it would be safe to conclude he isn't a star signing. That's a fact. He's a good player. But that's not what we needed when we went out looking for a game changing one.

I'm running out of excuses to make for the decisions this club makes. Our financial standing is a lot better than a lot of clubs and fair compared to the big clubs. If we want to be taken seriously again we need to start signing world class players. Why everyone tries to rationalize signing anything less than that is beyond me. If Man Shitty, a club with no history and no major trophy to date to boast about can continue to sign top notch players simply because they can then we, with our name and history despite our current state, ought to be able to splash some cash on ONE world class player and offer him a fat paycheck if it means returning to glory.

Wasnt there a very clear approach from us, in which they spelt out demands, and we left them with a sorry excuse of an offer? If Aguero was our first priority, which I firmly believe he was, we enquired and should have paid the 40m asking price with immediate effect, clear about our intentions on the mercato. Instead, we went from Sanchez, to Aguero, to Rossi. Too many variables in the Sanchez deal to complain about, but here, our own confusion got to us before ManCity did. The agreement with Aguero was in place, we didn't close with his club because we have a bunch of incompetents trying to run a market on our terms. We couldn't get Martinez on our terms, how were we aiming to get Aguero? We dropped the ball. I get your bit about Atletico holding out, but our approach didn't help. As for the ManCity billion dollar owner, that's the point I was trying to make. Our one marquee signing would've come had we made some economic sacrifices which we are refusing to do. The money IMO has been there before this year, to make a signing that makes a difference even under our current conditions. Money talks.

We're obviously not Aguero's first choice, so even if we did wrap up things quickly with AM its likely that he would have wanted to wait for other offers.

He was the better signing. If he wasn't ever mentioned or didn't exist, and we had Lionel Messi or Karim Benzema in our ranks, we'd all welcome Rossi happily. Coz hes an excellent addition to a good team, but only a decent addition to an average team coz nothing around him is much better. Which means we needed somebody who could make the difference.

In the last 4 seasons Aguero outscored Rossi in all of them. Not one, not two, not three, ALL.
