It is what it is man. Bayern managed to convince Ribery to join them at a bad time without CL football or anything. Thats why you have a good sporting director. If you don't have the money you could at least get yourself a good sporting director who's smart. Too bad we have a clown running the show.
Right, and he was at Marseilles at the time, and I can't remember 6 years back with Maseilles, but were they in CL football at the time? What Marota needs to do is what Bayern did with the likes of Ribery. Find those 22- 24 year old players who are playing at squads such as the Marseilles of the world, and help build the squad into something similar to waht Bayern Munich has become. Of course, their new stadium in Munich has certainly been a big boost to their finances as well.

There's a difference between trying to tempt a player away from Marseille than from Bayern/Man Utd.

Someone like Juan Mata, would be a lot more realistic, in my opinion, instead of players that are participating in the last two CL finals.

ManCity was in our position once Serge. They opened their pockets, and attracted the very people we waste our semen on. Fact is, we got to be clear about our goals. Unfortunately, we're compromising our situation by having people run a club at a level they don't belong. With our spend plan this year, we could and should have had a guy like Aguero before anyone got in the game. We didn't because we didn't want to participate in bidding wars thereafter. Our problems are, a lack of focus combined with incompetence.
Ok. Here is what I think about this.

If you are Atletico Madrid, and you know that you have a very hot commodity in Aguero, why are you going to jump at the first offer that comes along? We are not talking about an unknown in Aguero. He has been on the minds of a lot of football people for the last 5 years. The escape clause in his contract was for Spanish Teams only. Meaning, that ATM were well within their rights to wait for the highest bidder from foreign leagues. It is what any smart team would do when you have an asset such as this.

And ManCity also got something known as "A billion dollar owner" a couple of years ago as well

If they wanted/needed to leave of course. We would have zero chance if Ribery wasn't willing to leave or that Nani is now a question mark with them signing Young.

Theres just one thing about the Aguero saga: everyone is saying that we should have wrapped things up sooner, but it was not up to us only, maybe Aguero didnt want to get it finished soon, he probably wanted to wait to see if he would get other offers. So I think the whole "we waited too long" argument doesnt really hold water.

Fcuk all that. This is why Elkann thinks Juve is a lost cause. Look at how we spend our money. Its absolutely fucking ridiculous. Please het Marrotta the fuck out of here. Trez, Diego, Camo, Gio out last season. And this year he hasn't been able to get rid of Amauri, Sissoko, and the lot. But the first deal he's ready to do is, get rid of Melo. Its amazing.

25m + 4m in bonuses? Depends on what the bonuses are. For example, if that 4m in bonuses is dependent on CL qualification or winning a trophy, than it's not to bad as the windfall from the above scenarios would easily cover 4m.

25m is still overpaying, but if he manages to build on his performances from last season, than 25m will could prove to be a good deal.
