We're obviously not Aguero's first choice, so even if we did wrap up things quickly with AM its likely that he would have wanted to wait for other offers.
How can that be the excuse! I just don't get it. At the rate we're going, we will never ever be anybodys first choice Z. When you open your pockets, and sign a top player, people take notice. They figure the possibilities. And you know what, there was no excuse this year. ManCity is no player's top choice, they don't leave the player with an option. Which is what we were in a position to do this year, bar none. If anything, we had an advantage over City. Because we had some fucking history to go with the money filling our pockets.

Once we qualify for CL this year more money and the prestige of CL will bring bigger draws, you can't expect players like the ones you mentioned come to a two time 7th place team. Milan at least was in CL when they signed zlatan

Martinez to Pepe to Bastos can only take you from 7th to 4th IMO. Going from Quag to Rossi is not much of a change. So the CL isn't a forgone conclusion as far as I'm concerned. Marrotta's achievement I. Life has been qualifying for the CL once. A feat I think he's unlikely to repeat. EVEN AT JUVENTUS.

It's not an excuse, its just the way things are. I just wanted to say that its not just up to us, you cant just say "We should have done it quicker." It doesnt work like that, there are a lot of things involved. I'm not saying that the deal couldnt have been done better, maybe it could have, but this had to be done last season, after we finished 7th the first time. I said that we would be fucked if we missed out on the CL again and its proven to be true.

So, what's the plan then? Sign good, ok and middle of the park players hoping to somehow get to the CL and THEN pounce for wc players? Sounds like a plan.

We don't have CL? Well, that means you have to spend more and present an actual project on how you are getting back to the best. If we lack leverage we have to make it up in capital, that's what City has been doing all along.

Rossi is a very good player, the kind an already made excellent team gets to round out the squad and give them more options.

The problem is Rossi is not a star and that's what's annoying all of us, you don't get that do you? Instead Marotta is more concerned with getting players "on our terms".
