The fact people are rating the mercato at the beginning of the season makes me laugh. All of these so called "$#@!" signings could turn out better than a lot of you are predicting.

I prefer to rate how these transfers fare, you know, at the end of the season when I actually see how they play/fit into the team.

Hell, half of Europe was thinking we would do well, not just in Italy. Last season's meltdown on the CL level I blame on Conte.

If it were Ranieri people would have blamed his "defeatist tactics". If it were Capello people would have blamed his "antiquated tactics".

Of course, Conte without blame, was never the issue. Makes no sense at all when, on paper, we had improved on the team the year before that that went further.

I am one who blamed the approach not the squad and thinks that the squad as it is has potential to reach the quarter finals. What happened this season though is we changed coach but it does not look like anything regarding the formation or the starters is going to change. Considering the fact that we are not improving an already good squad, signing a game changer was necessary if we intend to keep the same approach. Then comes the fact that we paid ridiculous amounts on bench players and even if Morata as many claim has lots of potential, if he does have it and delivers properly, we are going to lose him due to that fucked up contract.

That's what I said, we don't look like we are changing tactics and we did not get players for new tactics, we got bench players. Only Evra can change the back line to a 4-man line but that is not enough as the rest of the team is still intact.

I think all we needed to change tactics was a back 4 player which Evra will do. People here certainly didn't want to see Chiellini or Asamoah as the LB now they got their wish. We have Evra, a dynamo midfield and strong attack. Age of Tevez or Llorente shouldn't even be brought into the picture (like some are hinting, not you)...not for another 2 years I'd say. Our LB buy in Evra says it all, we also had a lot of players out against Chievo so I'm sure getting a team back onto the chemistry of a back 4 line after 3 years of a 3 back line will take some time...preseason is also about fitness, not only tactics.

Evra gives us options. Without him we can dominiate Italy still in the 352 and with him we can begin our conquest of Europe with a back 4. Or even the ability to change mid game will benefit us.

Let's see how Allegri does first after a couple months. I think by mid October we will know more about how our season will end up tactically.

Allegri is definitely looking at 4321. Pereyra did well at AMR/RWF position a couple of times during the pre-season and Coman is looking very impressive too.

Giovinco is more useful in 4321 than in 352 that's for sure. As for Tevez not much changes either way tbh. Llorente and Morata can definitely play CF in the 4321.
