Essentially the players who don't want to join us, if we are simplifying to that degree.
It's not like we are on a level playing field to the teams we have lost players to, either financially or in terms of competition, as if it is Marotta pitting his wits directly against those at Man City, United, Barcelona, or whorever. He's operating at Juventus with our budget.
You can always say we can spend better, of course we can. We can add up Martinez, Matri and the rest, if we completely ignore the context of each move. We could have used money better over 2-3 windows. It doesn't change, if we want top players we have to pay more, whether that is with planning or not. Players and agents know what they can get from clubs in the top bracket, so they are not going to rush into joining early season.
Our position doesn't change, we can offer them the chance of trophies in a good league with good wages, others can offer more. So going back to the point on players wanting us, of course that is who we will sign. Otherwise we will sign players who we can offer more for, or if there is no interest elsewhere.
It doesn't really matter to me who the sporting director is, we still have the same disadvantages. For me our progress is on track, and now we clearly have to make a move for more quality. Marotta knows that, but don't expect it at once.
