Typical Daily Mail disaster story. The fuel thing is overblown, but this is how people react. I went to fill up yesterday as I was running low and it was full of people panic buying. I noticed that most of them were over-60. They can't get rid of that post-war memory that they were born into of their parents rationing and the shortages. They remember the 70s as well.

There is no shortage of fuel but the lack of lorry drivers is causing considerable issues across various supply chains. It's a good time to drive HGV, I know guys making £1000 extra per month. I think lorry driver numbers have been steadily falling even across Europe. It's not an easy job, and fewer want to do it. Covid also essentially stopped thousands of people taking the HGV test. It's a bad combination.

The media are to blame for this, they run it as a headline story in the tabloids and on the same day people panic, because that is what we do, like a bunch of lemmings.

Damn 24,7% CDU vs. 24.9% SPD

Gonne be an interesting night.

Fuck Armin. With Söder CDU would have won this easily. Not that I'd want him, but still.

haha
libertarian (or closest to it) party wins the election amongst first-time voters @GordoDeCentral @Bjerknes
our zoomers bought 50€ worth of TSLA and already want the tax man to fuck off :touched: @AFL_ITALIA
Greens with all that massive brainwashing in schools only 22% that's horrible for them given the effort
I assume the first time voters are mostly teens/20-sometings?

I have German (and Polish) ancestry... I may have a shot at a future there if this pans out. :klin:

Must be nice having more than 2 serious parties... :sigh:

Would you say this is accurate?
The FDP is now a predominantly classical-liberal party, both in the sense of supporting laissez-faire and free market economic policies and in the sense of policies emphasizing the minimization of government interference in individual affairs. Scholars of political science have historically identified the FDP as closer to the CDU/CSU bloc than to the Social Democratic Party (SPD) on economic issues but closer to the SPD and the Greens on issues such as civil liberties, education, defense, and foreign policy.

While it's nice to see more people see the light, there are 2 major hurdles: 1. Once elected these people actually stay true to their colors and do more than just posture 2. The worse one, they overcome the insurmountable bureaucratic fungi that's been festering for decades sabotaging all efforts to show its uselessness.

I just don't see a political solution to our state of affairs.
