I don't mind building a team around our teams top scorer/assist-man... as long as Diego is part of the team its all good... When on fire there's no one, absolutely no one in our team who can dictate the game like Ale... and unlike Camo and the lot, Alex is more likely to be on form than not...

The sure shot starters for next season (at least the beginning of the season) are
Buffon
Chiellini
Sissoko
Marchisio
Diego
Del Piero

You can poke me with Burke's deck if these guys don't start next season (unless they are injured of course)
Dont be to sure about Ale being a sure starter...

I would take this guy, if you look at him stats wise he is at the top or near the top of all the midfield stats, he also chips in with the odd goal.

I certainly would trade him for Tiago and Poulsen.

Why D'Agostino? Why not Hamsik or Asamoah?

I will be supremely pissed if we are sending Criscito or Gio in any kind of deal in the other direction. No loans or co-ownership BS; These kids need to play, and they deserve it. They are talented and competent.

Getting D'Agostino makes me certain that we won't play 4-2-3-1.

I am almost sure we will play 4-3-1-2 now.

Now let the Secco bashing begin.

Let's hope Giovinco gets a chance to play, and is not shipped out.

4-3-1-2 with Sissoko, Marchisio, and D'Agostino as the starters, and Camo, Poulsen, and Zanetti as the backups? I am not too sure Camo will be happy with a substitute role (if he is healthy), but then again we can sometimes play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 to accommodate some of our players.

from a system based on width to a system playing with zero width...interesting...they must have decided a Coach already if they are making these kind of moves in the transfer market

Playing 4-3-1-2 sucks big time. That means that we are only going to have one player (Diego) who can beat his players since Camo is obviously going to end up on the bench if D'ago arrives. And if Diego doesnt play good in a game then we would have huge problems creating anything from midfield. As good as Marchisio, Sissoko and D'ago are, they dont have that special thing that Giovinco, Diego and Camo have.

But then again, im against every formation where Diego and Giovinco doesnt get to play together.

All i hope is that D'ago is Tiagos replacement.

I am worried about 0 width, especially with the very average fullbacks we have :moan: :sigh: :shifty:

Regarding Asamoah, he is tough in the tackle, has a good passing range, and a wicked shot I believe. I wouldn't see he is as creative as Hamsik, but he has the potential to be an even better box-to-box midfielder.

We're basically replicating what Bremen had with Diego...a MF diamond:

--Marchisio-- (Baumann)
Sissoko (Frings) - D'Agostino (Ozil)
Diego (Diego)

So you are telling me that you think D'ago and Sissoko are going to take care of the left and right side? So we are going to go from Camo and Nedved to Sissoko and D'ago, wow..that sucks.

Wake up, 4-2-3-1 is definitely the way to go. You get two defensive midfielders in Sissoko and Marchisio, then you get width in Giovinco and Camo and at the same time Diego could play as a playmaker behind one of our strikers.

I assume you're counting on Del Piero to be a sub next season and that ain't gonna happen.

4-2-3-1 is bad because:

1) Sissoko and Marchisio are not so good at passing so our front line would lose it's essence and it wouldn't be affective.
2) Camo is injury prone so you can't really count on him.

4-3-1-2 could work very well though and we saw how good D'Agostino was this season. We'd need better fullbacks, though.

Yes, I think Del Piero should be subbed next year. I think Giovinco and Diego could fill the gap he leaves behind. I mean, Giovinco just got to play 1/3 of what Del Piero and Nedved did and at the same time he got more then 7 assists. Why dont u get that Giovinco is to good to sub?

Is that all? I think Diego, Giovinco, Camo and our striker could take care of the offense as long as Sissoko and Marchisio do their job at back. And, who said Marchisio is a bad passer?
