@ Cronios D'Agostino's purchase are not as bad as you are trying to convince us.
Do see him as a world class player, or world class material??

I would rather see Marchisio taking that spot and fittest between Poulsen and Camo for now. And when the time comes, a top quality player!!

Dagostino is nothing more but a quick fix, the momentary gains he would gives wont be essential, not know or in the future. Unless you rate him higher than Camo or believe that he can be significally better than Marchisio...

Depends on which Camoranesi shows up. When he's off his game, he's very lousy. When he's on, there's few better. He's also hurt a lot, and a good backup/replacement should be sought sooner rather than later. Someone like Rosina or D'Agostino fits that bill somewhat.

However, at present, I agree with you that D'Agostino should be a tertiary objective after a new LB (Criscito?) and a new RB.

I dont trust Camo as our start RM anymore and knowing that, we have Marchionni as his sub.
But as a CM andknowing that we have Poulsen, CZ and Tiago/Poulsen available,
i think that we can afford this safe bet,
just for his shake and just for one last season!
In the meantime fix the defense permanently and then, raise some cash to buy a top class starter if needed!!
No risks, no wasted funds, no quick fixes!!

I think if we buy him, it means we will play a 4-3-1-2 formation (That may be the reason why we are interested in strikers, too). He and Marchisio are different types of midfielders so they can play together.

Marchisio has potential, but I see him as a box-to-box MC, not a "Registra" like D'Agostino. With Sissoko-D'Agostino-Marchisio, however, I fear that there is not enough width (unless both fullbacks are very capable of attacking).

I'd like to see Sissoko-D'Agostino-Someone like Camo who can be used as MC but is more capable of playing on the band than Marchisio (Is Hamsik this kind of player? I don't know his playing style) with one attacking fullback and another one more defensive-inclined.

I also think that Dagostino will undermine Marchisio's future in our team.
And i also foresee the lack of a real DM, rather for the times Sissoko wont be available.
Poulsen is def not up to this task, neither CZ any more, we dont have any other dynamic DM like Sissoko, but an abundance of exp players to minimize Marchisio's playing time.

What a grave mistake Dagostino would have been, esp if we dont sell both Tiago and Almiron, or buy at least two starter defenders first.

We should rather respect our priorities, rather than waste Camo and Marchisio on the bench...
Wait, aren't you opposed to another DM? :shifty:

Pirlo cannot give 100% in WC2006 if there is no Zambrotta and Grosso to support him on the flanks.

so even we're going to use 4312 as our primary formation next season
2 World Class Sidebacks is as important as the deep lying playmaker.

so no matter what, bring Criscito back and sign a new RB

I would be down with us signing D'Agostino as he can be our central mid play maker with MArchisio and Momo with him. But if we do get him we should sell Tiago (who was supposed to cover that role for us).

I want our main mids next season to be: Momo, Marchisio, Camo, D'Agostino and Zanetti... possibly Poulsen and I guess Sali as a utility sub.

Criscito for me is good choice for a 4-2-3-1 formation. If we play 4-3-1-2 with two DM+D'Agostino on the midfield, however, a very attacking LB who can dominate the whole band will be better suited (Criscito plays LWB in Genoa in a system with a winger in front of him). De Ceglie is more attacking but I'm not sure of him in many aspects since he didn't play continuously so it's hard to judge properly.

Well, Ale has got to be more flexible. We are not going to build the formation around him, and we need to try playing various formations. I don't want us being predictable anymore.

As for D'Agostino, why not go for Hamsik or Asamoah? They are better players, or does the board have the Italian Player syndrome?

I don't mind building a team around our teams top scorer/assist-man... as long as Diego is part of the team its all good... When on fire there's no one, absolutely no one in our team who can dictate the game like Ale... and unlike Camo and the lot, Alex is more likely to be on form than not...

The sure shot starters for next season (at least the beginning of the season) are
Buffon
Chiellini
Sissoko
Marchisio
Diego
Del Piero

You can poke me with Burke's deck if these guys don't start next season (unless they are injured of course)

Either this or he came up with the "too slow" shit just to make Poulsen feel like plan A and like a player the team really needed.
Afterall, you can't say "We wanted player X and player Y, but since we couldn't buy them we opted for Poulsen".
Well, he's capable of presenting such a statement too;) He didn't need to depreciate Xabi to make Poulsen feel better, he said already earlier that he has chosen Poulsen due to tactical reasons, because he wanted a strong midfield to field a trident attack, which he also didn't do. In addition, it didn't help Poulsen much either.

What a fecking team Udinese had this season. I would easily take Zapata, Felipe, Handanovic(as Buffon replacement later), Inler, D'Agostino and Asamoah. And then they have Pepe, Di Natale and Quagliarella and they play for the Italian NT.

Handanovic

Isla - Zapata - Felipe - Pasquale

Inler - D'Agostino - Asamoah

Pepe - Di Natale - Quagliarella
They have a well respected coach too in Pasquale Marino.:)
