Last news concerning Jova is that he will not move to Milan. I caught an interview with him on Belgian TV a week ago and he did admit that Milan were interested, but so are a lot of other teams. He also mentioned that he's not really interested in moving to a big team because that would limit his chances of playing. And since he's already getting older, playing is his number 1 priority. He is certain to leave Belgium though.

The guy who conducted the interview later said that they talked a bit more after the interview, without the presence of any cameras, and to him it was pretty obvious that Milan was out of the question at the moment.
But there were literally dozens of interested teams: Italian (Fiorentina was mentioned), German, Spanish (a lot of Spanish teams iirc) & English.
He'd do a good job if he was thinking like that. He'd probably ruin his career if he goes to Milan now.

But I saw it on TV last night, they said he's going to have medicals and that he's going to move there at the end of the season. No idea.

It could still happen I guess.

2 weeks ago there was an interview with D'Onofrio (the big guy at Standard) in some Belgian magazine and he also said that Jova would end up at Milan. But it did suprise me to see an interview with the player himself a week later were he basically said he'd go to a "smaller" club.
Especially when, afterwards, the journalist said Jovanovic had no interest in Milan.

He wouldn't be the first player to have good intentions only for him (his agent) to change his mind when offered a great big pile of money.

And what about his integrity? And the will to play?

Bah, who am I kidding?
I know what I would do in his situation: taking the money and making myself comfortable on the bench (or in the stands). Easy does it.

I wouldn't be worried to see Jova at AC, IMO, he doesn't have the qualities to bring AC to a higher level.
I'd agree with that. Pretty unlikely that he would be an upgrade for Milan.

That sick dribbler that's playing for Serbia. Kinda 'old' so it's weird people hear now about him...but he has good statistics in Belgium. He looks really good, but dunno if it was smart for him to move there.
Aaaah, i think that I heard of him, but not too much so I didn't know...

Anyway thanks for the info

This morning I had a chance to talk with one older guy who used to work in football and he told me that the Italians lost the cheapest market in European football, where there is still quality left. The ex-Yu market.

In the past, apparently, the Italians ruled this market. Their scouts were ever present, they were opening youth schools all over ex-Yu and since Italy is very close and so are the culture and mentality of the Italians, the ex-Yu players always prefer Italy over the other big countries and leagues in Europe.

I mentioned the cases of Vucinic, Jovetic, Pandev, Handanovic, Jankovic, Kolarov as a counter-argument that proves how the serie A teams are still standing strong in ex-Yu, but he shut me up with examples from the past where the other countries couldn't even think about getting their hands on Yu players before the Italians choose not to get them, and examples from the present that say how the Eastern European clubs and the EPL clubs are sending scouts and managers here week in week out, create strong links with the clubs and buy the best quality, sometimes they practically steal it, while the Italians only occasionally get the quality and often they do it only after these players prove themselves in some competitions, for which they have to pay good money (like in Jovetic's case).
Vidic, Srna, Ivanovic, Krasic, Olic etc all left from Serbia/Croatia directly to Russia/Ukraine. Modric, Kranjcar, Corluka, Kalinic and Eduardo left from Croatia to England. Tosic and Ljajic went, or almost went, to EPL. Dzeko went from Bosnia to Czech Republic. Kacar from Serbia to Germany. Sulejmani and Pranjic from their domestic leagues went to Holland etc etc etc

There are markets that produce even more quality. But the Brazilian market is too expensive and South Americans are "ruled" by the Spanish and Portuguese teams. The Portuguese market is not available while the Spanish, German or Dutch market are either unavailable for the Italians or too expensive. The ex-Yu market is much more cheaper, but even here the Italians stopped working seriously.

The only Italian team who seriously works on the ex-Yu market is Inter, followed by Milan who were standing stronger here than any other team in the world but lost interest lately. Juve's interest is almost inexistent.

And I don't understand why our interest is nonexistent. It makes absolutely no sense, but little does with this club nowadays.
And you know what else makes no sense to me? What are we doing in France? Do we have any scouts there at all?

That's the market where we bought Zidane, Henry, Deschamps, Trezeguet, where Parma found Thuram. That's the market from where Wenger keeps getting top quality. That's the place where young kids like Sissoko and other top players of African origin (Drogba, Essien etc) started their careers.
When was the last time we got a young player from a French club?

The only two times this new management did its shopping in France was when we got a Portuguese flop and a 32 year old Italian left back. :sergio:

Indeed. It appears that we don't even have proper scouts anymore, with Secco just going after names he recognizes from FIFA 2008.
