We CANNOT afford a new/better defender (DC) I'm afraid because we're going to cover some other postions.Even our board said that our priority will be to buy Nedved's replacement which means ~25mln euros.Changing our formation could mean the end of Tiago so a new midfielder as well.

If we can get Agger,Marquez or Ivanovic let's!

but I don't think we can so it's Cannavaro or Lugano.Your call.

Yeah sadly some people really think that.
Why not just get Canna anyways since he is free...would be a MUCH better option than who we have at DC anyways (other than Chiellini).

We can still get a new younger DC right? Especially since Canna would be free, it is hard to say no to that kind of experience. Canna for free is much better than Mellberg for free because it is impossible to compare the experience that would be brought and taught to the defense we have. If we do get a younger defender lets say such as Kjaer, then I definitely want Canna because he will have so much to teach them.

On a side not, I really did not expect to see this in the news though and to be honest tomorrow I am hoping to find out we have a new coach.

It wouldn't be bad if we can get 2 of them but I don't think we'll do.Chances are like 2% for it.

Maybe if we sell Legro/Mellberg but I still doubt and only because we need to cover many positions and not just this one.

    Enticing ....

    Criscito - Chiellini - Cannavaro - Motta

A seasoned veteran to lead a pack of young defenders

Would be good if Canna play for the minimum wage or better still nothing at all juz to redeem himself.

I voted against, however, if the question was if I want him back to Juve as an assistant coach, my vote would be: yes.
I don't really think he'll get something like that IF Lippi doesn't come.

I think he'll be more deeper in the club, if he gets an offer that is.

dear god Andy is gonna have a stroke once he reads this, and i mean the kind that makes your face fall to the side, not the fun kind!

i have always been slightly less vocal regarding the "traitors" that left, zambrotta and thuram were worse due to the length of time they spent at the club. while Canna was reborn with us he never really cemented a legacy as the others did, his betrayal was not as bad and i have never had anything but respect for teh man.

for a purely football point of view then i say go for it,he can really help Chiellini develop as a CB and pass on his vast experience. that said though i think they are underestimating the simmering resentment that still bubbles under the surface towards all of the players who jumped ship, one bad performance and these people would be very vocal in their criticism and it could backfire

That is pretty random. What do we know about Cannavaro's coaching ability? And besides, it's not like he is a Juve legend that would make sense to have in the staff solely based on that merit like Pessotto, Ferrara, etc.

How many quality starters do you think our board will bring this summer?

Lets see....we need a Diego type of player, we need a LB, RB and a CB. These poitions are our priorities. But in what order?
Do you think we'll buy 4 great players for all these positions?
If you think so, or if you think that the CB position is a top2 priority, then Cannavaro to Juve won't be a good transfer for you, and i'll agree with you that it won't be a good transfer.

But we all know that our board will not buy 4 top quality players for these 4 positions this summer. The most we can hope for is Diego and one more expensive top quality defender. That defender, imo, should be a full back and that full back is a higher priority than a CB.

So, if we spend our transfer budget money on Diego and a full back, would you prefer Cannavaro or another Stendardo/Knezevic loan deal?
If we had our full back positions set, with two quality players, and if all we needed was one CB (as it's the case with Milan), then it would have been hilarious if we bought Cannavaro.

But we need to improve 3 different positions before we start thinking about a CB.
Cannavaro would be accepted here only if the choice is Cannavaro or no-one, and if we spend all our money (which is probably a small amount) on the other positions, which are of higher importance, then signing Cannavaro on a one year contract, is acceptable, of course.

This might come as a shock to some of you, but this isn't the summer of 2001 and we don't have 150m eur for transfers.
The rumor is 1 year + an option on the 2nd and the a managerial role. Lippi would be technical director and Canna would assist the new coach or something.
     and

    ----------------Buffon
    RB---Canna--------Chiellini------Criscito/DC
    ------Momo--------Marchisio
    Camo----------Diego---------Gio
    ----------------Amauri/Trez

    and DP instead of Diego in a 4-4-2...but the 4 2 3 1 looks fantastic:beer:

That would be nice should Lippi come back to run things, I wouldn't mind Lippi as an Assistant to Conte/Gasperini.
