He deserved it, not for the comments in themselves, but knowing human nature, people love to jump on board for anything and "feel offended". So hes an idiot playing around with the notion of god in such a religious country.. just asking for it.

they have hosted his boss / board of directors to talk about the incident on a tv/radio program. And he didn't like it either. Note that he was also an expact, not sure about the nationality though. British or South African.. not sure.. After rewinding the tape of the show the foudn that his act wasn't acceptable. Hence, the firing decision.

But basically that would make the "offended" people the idiots for taking the bait.

You think freedom of speech is a ridiculous idea, don't you?
    Yes i absoloutley do.

What's even more frightening than the fact that he was fired for those completely harmless jokes, is that most Muslims who have replied in this thread actually think it was justified.
    :howler:

    How unpredictable.

You cant take your brand of whats harmless and whats offensive everywhere. You need to have enough sense to know what's acceptable where and when.Harmless or not,its offensive to people in the country. You wouldnt go to Mecca and crack a 'harmless' joke against God on a radio show.Any person who would is an idiot and deserves to be fired.

    Nice try.

I can say what i think, because being on a Juventus forum id have enough sense to not crack any Anti-Juventus jokes or make any 'harmless' Anti-Juventus comments.

But hey..lets practice Freedom Of Speech.

Invite all Inter,Roma,Milan,Torino fans here..and let them say whatever they want about Juventus.Let them crack 'harmless' jokes about Juventus getting relegated,'harmless' jokes about Del Piero and Scirea being junkies..

Afterall its only Freedom Of Speech. We shouldnt ban them, rite?

That's a pretty broad examination of the topic wouldn't you say?

You weren't here to remember this, but I have always encouraged diversity on this forum as long as I was in charge. Whenever you get a bunch of like minded people together it doesn't take long before they'll start pushing for a monoculture and kick out anyone who doesn't fit in. I hated that, I always wanted this place to accept people whoever they happened to be. I think a community that can't take self criticism and accept dissenting voices isn't worth much.

Over the years we've had a bunch of rival fans posting here under the same rules as everyone else, rules that I wrote. The rules did not ban anti-Juve jokes.

Nick/Incubo was a big test case, he came in here as one of the cleverest trolls of all time, posted pictures of Del Piero walking past the CL trophy in 2003 with a sad look on his face, things like that. Predictably, people jumped on him, wanted him out. That's what mobs do, they suppress diversity. I was on his side, refused to sanction him as long as he played within the rules, which he always did. The moderators at the time did the same. The shall we say more cultured members did too, but there was a big (the majority) chunk of people who hated him.

So if it's the Juventuz mob that pisses you off then I'm right there with you.

Just wanted some clarification. When you say period, it generalizes the topic, which isn't possible considering the view of religion varies from culture to culture. That said I understand what you were getting at. And you do have a good point.
