Marchisio isn't the type of player that stands out at first sight, but to a good eye you'll see his excellent defensive movement and great passing. Especially against Milan, Marchisio was THE link in empoli's build-up play.

Remember he's still very young. If we really want Zapata, there should be alternative ways of getting him that do not include sacrificing Marchisio.

I mean where was someone like Cristiano Zanetti(or even Nocerino) at Marchisio's age? Giovinco isn't a starter yet for Empoli, but Marchisio was able to quickly win his place.
We often critisize our club for not handling our talents well, we finally have a promising one now and you're dismissing him so easily?

Frankly i'm shocked and dissapointed to read that.

Don't you even remember how Marchisio was a starter for juventus last season? Yes it was Serie B, but it was still juventus and frankly.. he was great.

I'm not saying I'd choose to lose Marchisio.

However, if the was the only way we could get Zapata was giving them Marchisio, I would go for it.

That's what I was getting at as well. If the choice is give up Marchisio, give up Giovinco or don't acquire Zapata, I give up Marchisio. I'd like to keep him around in case my initial impression was wrong and he can mature into a top midfielder. But a CB like Zapata would be huge, and sometimes there's a price for that kind of player that may not taste so sweet at first.

Dominic, I agree that Marchisio played very well in B... but Paro didn't exactly look bad against Serie B competition either. I also think you'll agree that by far the best midfielder Juve had last year was Zanetti, and while Zanetti is doing well, we'd all definitely prefer someone better. Personally, I'm mystified as to how Giovinco isn't a starter with Empoli, and perhaps that is part of the reason they are in the relegation zone. Like Tiago, it might be a case of misusing talent. I definitely wouldn't want to just give up Marchisio for a few dollars, but if he was needed to get Juve a young, potentially world class CB, I think he's expendable for that.

in fairness though marchisio only got his place in the empoli starting line because of the void almiron left behind.

Fair enough I guess, I still wouldn't though.

Zanetti is still our best midfielder really. Sure, there are better midfielders, but few are as useful as him. Replacing him is a non-issue for me. And I agree about Empoli misusing Giovinco.

Blasi's other half, as well as Zalayeta's other half, will probably be sacrificed for Marek Hamsik.
Now this kid is going to be big one day. I just hope Tuttosport is right this time and Hamsik will get the fame with Juve.
Yeah Hamsik is great. If there's one player that really reminds me of Nedved, it's Hamsik.

Well Marchisio's only a year younger to Nocerino...

Zapata’s Friulani satisfaction

Udinese’s gifted defender Cristian Zapata is a target for Juventus and Fiorentina, but he’s proud to represent the Zebrette.

The Colombian has been a pivotal figure in Udinese’s climb to equal third in the Serie A table.

As the Udine outfit are trying to repeat 2004-05’s Champions League qualification and Zapata believes that team spirit could be the key after a 2-1 win away to Fiorentina.

“It was an extremely positive sign as we showed the true strength of this side,” he declared.

“Everyone made their own contribution in Florence going forward and at the back.

“We made all the necessary sacrifices and attacked and defended as a team.

“We were humble and determined and fought to the end to deliver a result that nobody expected. Nobody except us that is.”
