Yep, Ukraine/Polland are the third choice but personally I wouldn't know if they have slimmer chances than us, I'm unfamiliar with the conditions there.
Though Italy was a clear favourite they have really made a mess for themselves now.

I don't know what are our realistic chances but I wouldn't say they are too big and no one here is holding his breath either. We have 2 obstacles; stadiums and fans. I am not concerned about our fans as they can be controlled, all they need to do is put special forces there, not those security stewards or whatever than run home at the first sight of a fist. Our biggest derby, Dinamo vs. Hajduk, has not produced riots for a looong time because of that.

I'm most worried about stadiums because ours are shit, that includes our 2 best stadiums. Dinamo's Maksimir is unfinished for over a decade and Hajduk's Poljud is barely holding himself together. Both need some serious renovating and we need at least one new stadium and there in lies the problem. Where are we gonna build a new, modern, 50,000 capacity stadium and most importantly what the hell are we gonna do with it after the Euro? Our National leauge is poor and attendances are drastically low, none of our clubs would deserve a new stadium or would have any use for it. It would be best be to tear down the damn thing when the Euro is over.

I don't know the conditions of Hungary either but our bid is the weakest of all I'd say, when this with Italy cools down I think they're gonna be favourites again. Though if we somehow managed to get the Euro, it would certainly be one to remember.

Actually I find Hungarian-Croatian bid as the best, my friend. Hosting the european championship would help both countries and would popularize the football in the region, building new stadiums and sport basis is also needed in this part of the world. It would help the tourism and other sectors as well. I think that Italy have enough resources to build or renovate their stadiums and their bid wouldn't change the football game in general, while your bid is the only chance for Hungary and Croatia to become a part of modern football. Plus the European ruling body tolerate the West too much, if I'm not mistaken the last big football even was organized in East Europe (Euro'76 in former Jugoslavia) and that was like 30 years ago.

Four stadiums are pretty enough for Croatian bid. +4 from Hungary and here we go. I think a 50 000 national stadium in Zagreb wouldn't be that bad idea. Zagreb is a big city and the stadium would be packed for the big games. 30 000 stadium in Split also is possible, and 2 other 20 000 stadium in Rijeka and Osijek, who could be expanded to 30 000 (using the racing track )only for the European championship is also possible

The previous board of directors said that they were going to restructure Delle Alpi to resemble the English stadiums. Good Idea in my opinion.

Juventus’ board of directors have given the green light to the latest redevelopment plans for the Stadio Delle Alpi.

Club officials met in Turin today where they analysed a project which would revolutionise the currently unloved arena into a multi-purpose venue.

“This is an absolute first for Italy,” noted Juventus director general Jean-Claude Blanc on Monday evening.

“A stadium-come-entertainment venue capable of 'living’ seven days a week, of welcoming families into an ultra secure environment and of hosting major international events.

“The development plan is aimed at obtaining sporting results of the highest level, in compliance with financial requisites and adhering to the values which characterise our operation.”

The board unanimously approved the plan which will get underway if Italy are awarded the 2012 European Championships.

The Delle Alpi revamp will cost no less than £85m and will be aided by funds from the government and the Italian Football Federation.

Juventus were set to rebuild the Delle Alpi this summer, but the Calciopoli scandal saw the previous project scrapped.

Juve, who moved into the Delle Alpi after the 1990 World Cup, are currently playing their home games at the Stadio Olimpico.

I agree with most of what you're saying, west is really being favoured too much, though I don't see that trend changing...

As for the stadiums, it's easiest to build and/or renovate them, what to do after that is the problem. 50.000 national stadium for just the NT? I think that is too much for a country such as Croatia, who's gonna take care of that stadium? Keeping a stadium in shape is more than just watering the pitch. Such a big, most of all expensive stadium, would go to waste after the Euro, and like I've said no club deserves it or has the need for it. You say big games, may I ask what big games? The only games that can fill the stadium are those against Serbia and Serbian clubs and those games don't come around too often, which is in fact a good thing.

One thing is for sure if Croatia would somehow manage to get the bid, it would be a Championship to remember.

You know, the football is the most popular game in Croatia and whole Balkan for decades. And about tourism Croatia is already one of the most popular destinations in Europe, even I can see your point about tourism.

And I must say that I would love to see Croatia to host EURO it would mean I could go watch games But on the other hand if hosting EURO in Italy would mean new Juve stadium I'm tottaly for Italy than.

I'm not a fan of the English stadiums as well, yet they are better to the fans than Delle Alpi. Generally, I prefer stadiums like San Siro.

If only they made the Olimpico a little bigger when rennovating it for the olmypics, than it wouldn't matter. Than again, I remember reading that Juve have a very long lease already payed for on the Delle Alpi, so they have to use it, or else they payed for nothing.
