Domenech: Trezeguet Has Always Had Talent
France boss Raymond Domenech insists that he always known about David Trezeguet’s ability, despite the Serie A top-scorer’s banishment from recent squads.
Trezeguet has some well known personal differences with Domenech, and had been frozen out of the national set-up for almost seven months.
However he received a surprise late call-up for tonight’s match with England at the Stade de France when Lyon star Karim Benzema withdrew due to injury.
"I know about his talent,” said Domenech about Trezeguet.
“This has not changed in recent months despite the fact he has not been called up.”
Thierry Henry has also been forced to pull out of the France squad due to injury, thus making it extremely likely that Trezeguet will partner Chelsea forward Nicolas Anelka up-front.
"With him I have always felt good,” said Anelka.
“We would be a good pair. Tonight, against Capello, you will see.”
Despite Trezeguet’s inclusion tonight, many people believe that his chances of going to Euro 2008 are still unlikely.
