The commentator on Anelka's penalty kick miss....

"Well, each team in this world has an Anelka to miss these kind of things.....Anelka of Juventus in 2003 Champions league final was Zalayeta :D"

He never had a good season, hes been always a mediocre player whos overated.

But what a game guys, im so sad that man u i really despise that team...the funny thing is that they always manage to win by luck...every single time the tides seem to turn against their rivals.

dammit

When Del Piero took that Pk, what were you hoping?
That he would score, naturally. I didn't really want anyone to miss that night, but Trez missed the very first one, and it was all over.

Anyway, DP was still marginal in 2006. Maybe if he had had a stronger role in the national team all these years that would have persuaded me.

This is the first time I'm not even sure whom to cheer on. France isn't very good anymore, although it is my team. Zidane is gone, Trez was dropped, Henry stinks, Ribery is left to take charge. Italy might actually be quite good. And Poland finally made it, but we won't last.

I wouldn't rule Poland out. I think they can pass, they've been outstanding in their Qualification matches. It's all up to their match vs Croatia. Austria isn't a threat IMO, even though they're playing home, as for Germany, not much can be said. They'll easily make it.

France isnt good?

Sure trez is home, but Benzema, Nasri, Ribery and a solid defense. And probably most balanced squad imo besides germany.

Benzema and Nasri are not proven players at the intl. level...what I don't like the most about Les Bleus is the lone striker formation Domenech is using...Henry is not as effective in that role

You can say it like that, but every NT will have players coming in who aint proven, now, before and in the future.

Its not really about that. Its more about the unit and belief in it. Italy didnt had all proven players in 2006 either.

Greece is even better example i think :D

For starters, the coach is a complete idiot. 2006 was a miracle, partly thanks to Zidane. Now there is no Zidane. And while the players are still good, it's not a very convincing team anymore. Ribery is phenomenal, and he showed at the World Cup that he's completely up to the responsibility. I think Benzema is too. But Nasri and Ben Arfa are pretty raw, Malouda stinks lately, and so on. Unless Ribery really is the new leader, in which case this could be a success.

Ribery isn't really the leader type. France without Zidane is like a refrigerator without electricity... it just doesn't work and everything inside will eventually go bad.
