That itchy trigger finger got the better of you.
Naah nothing itchy but I was calling his bullshit ever since he arrived. It took him years to do something significant with Napoli, we cannot afford that here.

And look at what he is doing now, our attack is Vlahovic and ?

Proof is ultimately going to be the season as a whole, it's not going to be the end of the window. We can do a mercato rating but generally it's not going to be accurate against what happens over the season. I always like to do ratings at close of window and then end of the season to see the difference.

I do think he's made a mistake with the complete overhaul in one window, which is difficult to achieve and then to integrate. Common sense dictated that part of this should have been between the end of last summer and maybe a player in the Jan window, but also that it doesn't look like we had the capital to do that. So he's now tried to do two windows in one.

Which is quite obvious that he will not be able to complete the job which will most probably force us to continue in January and in next summer. Come bext summer, year 0 again. Rinse and repeat.

Then again my complaints started last year and in January when he did basically nothing. Not even prepared for an overhaul. The capital is not an argument here, preparing for an overhaul is done without the capital so when it is time to do it you have already laid th structure for that.

Mr Guintoli this summer nuked the structure and started from scratch and he won't complete the job. Come next season all the cracks will appear and we will blame the coach.

Its the same backups as last season. Minus selling Kean who had zero goals last season. Milik in comparison had 8 goals
Don't backups me Oz, you know we are thin....way too thin. And you know too that Guintoli is not doing his job.

I will backups you Jacqueline, and you will like it!;)

We are thin in 2 wingers, starting CB, backup fullback, and starting AM. That's the immediate needs. Not backup CF

It would be nice to get better backup striker, but is not necessarily too thin. As said we only lost Kean who had no goals. His minutes and production can be taken over by a U23 striker.

If they wanna improve on Milik it would be nice, but not immediate need with our limited funds and priorities. As said Milik scored 8 goals last season.

If anything maybe they can get a winger who can be backup both for wide and CF in very end of the window. After clearing the starting position wingers, AM, 1 starter CB etc.

Such a fit could be Memphis Depay, he is free agent. Maybe not ideal fit personality and contract wise, but he would fit the need.

Also Giuntoli full task for summer can be evaluated after the window, 2nd September. And also near end of season when we see the fruit of the actual signees performances.

But one thing I would say it's not necessarily about Giuntoli not doing enough so far, but the fact he is trying to do too much in one window. Overhaul way too much in one summer. As JuveJay said in another post, it's like he is trying to do 2 summers worth of activities in one summer with limited funds. Risky.

That's also why I disagree with why backup striker is not too thin or a need. We have enough other areas to address. Better save replacing Milik (I am not a fan of) backup role for January or next summer.

I was the first to call this fraud and I was asked to give him a chance for one proper transfer window. Is it now enough to judge him that he has no clue what he is doing?
I won't go that far just yet, but it is true that his time with us so far has not been promising.

We all know we had been terribly mismanaged before he joined, so I think you have to be lenient for at least a while. It was/is always going to take some time.

The January transfer window was a huge warning sign however. At the time, neither of those transfers made any sense. (And for those who are going to counter this with the no money argument, I've got the perfect & even much cheaper solution: don't sign them. We all knew they weren't going to play & so we didn't need them to begin with.)

In hindsight, and taking the Allegri fallout into account, I guess they do make some sense. Why strengthen a squad for a coach you don't see eye to eye with?

Which brings us to how the entire Allegri situation was dealt with: absolutely pathetic. About as big a red flag as possible.
We all know Allegri's time with us was over, but he's still one of the most successful managers this club ever had. While Giuntoli on the other hand has done fuck all for this club so far.

It's still too early to judge the current transfer window imo. Even if, from the looks of it right now, it can be described in 1 word: random.

Depends on results obviously.

Buuuuuut... If you think we'll be 5-10 points ahead by then, I advice changing your expectations.
I actually think we will be 5-10 points behind. That's how much our mercato sucks

But that only confirms to me that Guintoli is not doing his job. I know that we are very thin in other places than striker. I was only adding to my complaints on our SD.

We def upgraded our midfield in July. Attacking department has to follow in August to be looking at a great mercato at the end (with Todibo and Cabral in the mix too). So at this point I'd still say anyone judging in either direction, is just premature at best.
