Making it public sure devalues our players. Everyone knows that, including the management team. It's because Motta is stupid, or his brainfart, or it's a calculated action? You choose what you want to believe.

Until now, it's not that no one interest in our players. But our players refuse to open to the move. Why? Each player has their own thinking, but they may all consider a comfortable option that stay, get re-introduce to the squad, put in half-ass effort, play with laid back mentality, and collect big pay check at the end of the day, just like before. Motta makes it clear that they won't have that option. If you want to play, go find a new team. He made it public to show that they are serious, not some bluff. Now some must rethink their position carefully, and may be more open to other options. Sure, we won't sell well after this, but maybe we will sell easier. Not many want to have one full season in the stands.

But why, how does this work? If you say it out loud it knocks money off, but if you pretend you want to keep a player, contrary to all the evidence, that is a better negotiating position? I'm speaking about the likes of Chiesa and McKennie in particular here, not so much some of the others who may or not have been on the market (which I agree is pretty dumb, even if they are combined worth about ten euros).

time certainly did. we're running out of it

btw that's half of our squad that was supposed to win the scudetto last season lol. kean was sold sooner and at a better price too than chiesa or mckennie
It means that kean is also way smarter than them.
What part of "You are out of the project", they don't understand?
Now that it is public the matter is closed . It's up to them if they want to play next year or sit in the stands .

Old management passes on the goalkeeper of the year because Tek has 6.5 million and overpays for a new GK next year.
New management gets the GK of the year now and forces Tek to leave if he wants to play.

Fanbase pressure on the management. Suppose United has a player worth 35m and want to exchange with Chiesa. Wouldn’t they feel the heat of their fanbase if they go ahead and do it now?

If you keep the player in the squad, train and play friendly match with the team, you can have some leverage. Like this: "Look, Chiesa/ McKennie is a great player, he is useful, we don't need to sell. If you have good offer, we'll discuss, otherwise we'll happily keep him,". Everyone knows it is a mind game, but it's difficult to know how much truth in that phrase. Fear of missing out may make the buyers increase their offer.

It's different when you put him out of the squad, and speak publicly about that. Now everyone knows you are desperate to get rid of the player, and you have less average. Sure there's still a chance for a bidding war, but you have to prepare to sell lower.

Just wondering if anyone can go into detail and tell me how set are the SQUADS the likes of inter, AC Milan, Napoli, and stop at that. I know till end of Aug to get it moves done but how do the main 3 competitors for the scudetto stack up against us. Less than two weeks away from start of season. Glad we're going against Como and the books have us as the biggest fav of any serie match.

FYI at draftkings present scudetto odds ..
Inter -160
Juve +370
AC Milan +650
Napoli +750
Roma +2500
Lazio +5000

Could be wrong but seeing us second makes me think this league is crap at the moment like plenty here have stated.

Call me crazy, but our squad is way too weaker now then last year.
Well, the squad is still far from being completed. When we bring those 4 or 5 players in, then we can make conclusions. It's just a bit worrying that've been negotiating for Todibo and Koop for a while now and there's still nothing. I'm afraid of panic signings if we don't get our primary targets.

Even then we can’t make conclusions until later in the season when they had time to adapt.

It’s like everyone simply forgot we’re coming from 3 miserable seasons and decide to overreact. This whole process of rebuilding will take time so chill, mofos.

Besides, if we panic buy it won’t be the first time or the last.

Squad is worryingly thin in attacking areas with some glaring starting positions needing filled.

If we go 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. It is essential that we sign at least a right winger, an AM and a centre back/RB (depending on Danilo's position).

We also have no real cover on either wing, up front or RB.

Lots of work to do. Finding an agreement with Chiesa would solve one problem but doesn't seem like it will happen.

After a good start, this is just pathetic. With hujisen and soule we would have at least a cb and a winger, now we have none. What is this guy thinking, panic buys incoming in 3, 2, 1...
at least marotta was always open to comment on the logic behind some of the decisions... anyway, we still got 3 weeks, let's not judge just now. the transfer market was really quiet for most of the teams
