I'd be interested to get an Indian perspective on this actually but why do you rate Sachin as better than Dravid? Imo Rahul has got to be the most consistent batsman in world cricket. I know your list has a coupla past players in as well, but whats your current top 5?

Btw Freddy Flintoff should be in your top 5 bowlers and arguably batsmen as well.
im not an indian.but being the same part of the world as baggio, i guess i can answer that question.Tendukar is more of a public figure than dravid.and tendulkar is more loved, simply becasue his style of batting is more attractive to the neutral.dravid isnt half as attactive to watch as tendulkar, though he shud get more credit than he does.
lets put it this way : tendulkar means to india what del piero means to juventus.this shud do the trick.

and flintoff has been brilliant.absouloutley brilliant.i cant wait for the 4th test match to start.the crowd in the england sure loves freddie.its amazing to see the way they respond when he's in action.my money is still on a 2-1 win for the english.though i think they shud get collingwood in for giles for the last 2 test matches.

You're right Tom, Dravid has got what it takes to topple Sachin from that number 1 spot, except perhaps, the statistics. I think Dravid is probably the most mentally prepared bat in the world, but Sachin is by far and away the most devastating on his day. As Axl pointed out above, Sachin is more loved because he's sort of been the face of Indian cricket so to speak, over the past decade. But I think i'll point out here, that he no longer enjoys the kind of god like status hes being made out to enjoy, because like i said previously, the game today is all about your ability in the facets of the game. And with the kind of all rounders developing today, I think they've taken over the mantle and responsibility Sachin was deemed to have in the past.

As for Freddy Flintoff, I cant tell you how much Im enjoying him whipping the Aussies. He's probably doing as well if not better than what Botham has done in the past for England.

My current top 5:

Batsmen

1. Dravid
2. Ponting
3. Inzimam
4. Hayden
5. Flintoff

Best all-rounder in the game currently:

1. Flintoff

I think the bowlers list was pretty contemporary and quite frankly the best line up in a century.

Oh hell yea, I'm watching the Ashes more than I am following India's tour of Zimbabwe, because thats gonna need time to heat up still. England is where its at right now. :D

Although Tom, Australia's done a decent job in the second innings, Im worried, they could make England bat again with a decent total on the board. And when I say decent, I mean anything above 150 will be game on.

I told you Tom, anything over 150 would've been a different ball game. :D
Yeah, gotta give you props for that one :D

We all saw it coming though, its never easy with England :nervous:

Its not a good sign (obviously) that in the second innings of the last test, aussies torn us apart (when we were batting). That was due to the presssure and if england crumble then, just think what it would be like in the decider =/

I think we can do it though! i hope simon jones will be fit enough for the next test!

Come on england!!!
