So let's not even try.
imagine being dumb as a rock and believing this. Let this spread like wildfire, infect hundreds of millions in a small period of time before we have figured out any sort of effective treatment protocol, overwhelm and collapse our hospital system, because ya know containment isn’t working to control its spread at all (which is contrary to all available data lol). I’m sure this method will be much better for the economy though! :weee:

It already has infected hundreds of millions before we figured out an effective treatment protocol.

The problem is not really what they say, they’re just being themselves, big turds. Spreading shit like fire. We always had those fuckers in the world and the internet just allowed them to be loud.

The real problem are the people enabling them and sometimes even encouraging them. I mean even after his whole racist “sand nigger” rant some people still find Zach entertaining and want him back.

Those people aren’t dumb, they lack character. And btw Seven’s suggestions have been a bag full of shit from day one.

If there is one thing I most certainly do not lack, it is character.

the thing you might have lacked most here is tact imo considering how everyone here is affected by it directly and with loved ones.
i agree with a lot of your positions, which are obviously guesses, some would say intelligent others would disagree. But we are all guessing here, i doubt we would get a real scope of this anytime soon.
It's hard for people to submit to fate or cede 'control', so most will go for the let's do something it's better than nothing, especially when the decision makers are bureaucrats or career politicians. The example that comes to mind is the bombing of hiroshima, where about 200-300k were killed to spare a million, those kind of decisions just can't be taken anymore and they just might prove to be our undoing.

Yeah, I get that and it seems very reasonable.

But what I was trying to say is that the scientists who are actually handling the virus are saying they have never seen anything like it. The velocity with which it spreads is insane. Apparently a lot of them are scared they will be infected because it's that crazy.

These are people who work with ebola, so it's not like they're easily scared. They know that under normal circumstances their safety measures are enough.

And that's why, to me, it seems an impossible task to keep it from spreading.

Nobody is stupid enough to think we can get zero cases ever. The goal is to stop your healthcare system from being overwhelmed before a vaccine can be produced. After that it'll remain as a seasonal illness. I don't know what you mean by containment.
If you read the article I posted it outlines how this is going to play out.

Pretty much.

It's not as if it's working.

In fact it has caused death traps. Retirement homes went into quarantine, but the virus was already inside. Now it's sheer hell inside with the added 'bonus' that these people die alone.

It IS working. NY was projected to need 140k hospital beds. Now they're saying we're at apex with 18.5k hospital beds occupied.

It is demonstrably working. The curve is flattening in New York, allowing it to just spread here would've been borderline apocalyptic. It's not as if the rate of transmission will go to 0, no one is claiming this, but it definitely has slowed. Yes as you've mentioned the virus is in SOME retirement homes, imagine how many it would've been had no action been taken instead though.

31 year old friend of a friend died due to complications of the virus. There's really no predicting this.

Dude, wtf.

Both my parents are doctors. My girlfriend is running tests on the virus in the lab every single day. Many people are exposed, you little princess.

What I'm pointing out is that it's simply impossible to contain.

Would you send your parents to one of your camps? sounds kind of fun?

PS Any healthcare worker dealing with this virus it deserves nothing but standing ovations

:agree:

Apparently we now have “hundreds of millions” of infected already. I mean, ~1.7 million Positive cases but according to the forum epidemiology specialist and genius we need to multiply that by like 200 to get the true number. Never mind that actual epidemiologists and experts have at most suggested that cases could be 10x higher with most suggesting 3-4x higher, or the city of Vo in Italy, where they tested everyone, showed that only around 50 percent are symptom free making it pretty hard to believe there are hundreds of millions of symptom free cases walking around lol. Somehow we need to multiply positive tests by around 200x according to the genius here and it’s impossible to contain.

Any underlying conditions?
Well she’s obese. That put her at high risk. Last we heard she was breathing with the help of oxygen but apparently she’s breathing fine now. But again we heard cases where everything was fine then suddenly turned to shit.

The one 39 yo deputy who died was intubated for several days, the doctor noticed he was getting better then decided to extubate him. He died a day after. So this disease is kinda Treacherous, you’re good then suddenly you’re not.
