Sorry to hear that Alex. Deepest condolences to you and yours. This virus has hit the world hard. Cannot wait for the day where it stops taking so many lives.

@X Æ A-12

The CFL team Edmonton Eskimos just changed their name. Apparently after the Redskins name had been dropped from the NFL team, they realized that they should probably change their name too. Lol
Yeah that was huge thing here a little while ago, and I'm from Edmonton shit had me laughing :barza:

I don't get one thing.

Let's say whole France gets vaccines. They can still get the virus but, as they say, it's less harmful than living without one. But the fact is that they get exposed nevertheless. Right?

So... why do I need a vaccine if I want to travel to France? If I have covid then they still get infected, but yeah, to a lesser degree, so they don't end up in hospitals. So why do I need that covid passport/vaccine shot? France cares about me?
I've been saying this all along. A vaccine and a Covid test cover two completely different things. The first protects your ass, the second as more protection for everyone you come into contact with. I'm still a bit dumbfounded that people conflate the two. It's like I thought science education was bad, but this is way worse than I expected.

Travel restrictions should be based on your likelihood of carrying the infection -- not your personal resistance to symptoms. This is where I feel the travel industry is trying to play slight-of-hand and pull one over on everybody.

Well, as reactionary as it was, I have to hand it to her. She was authentic. Her reaction was real. Not the fake deadpan that Deborah Birx pulled to keep a straight face while she believed people were unnecessarily dying and she kept her mouth shut.... only to lament it publicly months and an administration later. That is some fake-455ed sh1t, hom13.

The only doom I see is for the person that waxed her eyebrows. Come on girl, get it together.
Those eyebrows are a horror and sadly call her entire gender's professional credibility into question.

How's US doing with vaccines? How many did you guys fire so far
Murica, man. If two shots is good, they're gonna be taking 17 shots before the end of the year. How it works.

My condolences. So sorry to hear that, Alex.

I get that but it's not what I even meant.

I get that vaccine is supposed to protect YOU. And I get that test is there to protect OTHERS.

Here's the deal. If I get a vaccine and travel somewhere I can still get the virus and carry it with myself. You're NOT immune to it. So if I found myself in France and I carry Covid, it makes zero difference whether or not I took the vaccine when it comes to OTHERS. Which is why I wonder why would I need a covid passport/vaccine, if I can still carry covid and infect others despite of them having taken corona shot or not.

Shortly, covid passport makes no sense to me because I can transmit the virus whatever the case.

BUT I'm talking about covid passport only, without taking tests. If we're supposed to take tests all the time for the future then it's a different story.

Italy asking tourists from other EU countries for a test, yet you need to stay in quarantine for 5 days anyway

Makes for great holidays.

I'm not sure we're saying different things though.

Yes, to others it makes little difference. It just means you're less likely to tax the health care system of the country you're visiting.

The Covid passport only says you're less likely to wind up in the hospital if you get infected. Everything beyond that is marginal or unproven.

So, for example, if President Trump instituted a ban of non-Americans flying in from China on Jan 30, 2020 but he allowed those with a vaccine passport to come through, that really wouldn't have helped the U.S.'s COVID defenses any.

Maybe if the US was allowing more global travel and the hospitals were filling up. But that would be the only scenario where that would make the most sense. And the facts are that pretty much every country banned travel before the hospitals got that bad anyway.

No, but the ones that exist are related to well-established pathologies and diseases where the vaccines are known to drastically reduce infection and not just symptoms. Like measles-mumps-rubella, typhoid, malaria, hepatitis, etc.

Covid is still novel and thus isn't in the same category.

Just got my first vaccine and had a reaction. Like 4 minutes after getting it I started feeling nauseous and lightheaded, and basically wanted to collapse. Then I started sweating profusely. They laid me down and took my blood pressure, it was like 100/60. It was almost like I was having a panic attack. They said they’ve seen this happen in a few other healthy and active younger folks. But now I’m freaked out and my arm hurts bad.
