They avoid the beaches for some reason. You won't see them on the Greek islands, Mallorca and similar places.
Is that so? I heard that Santorini receives a ton of Chinese tourists and that they're worried about tourism because of the virus. I hope I don't see any Asians when/if I go there.

    Worst tourists:
    1. Asian peeps
    2. Russian peeps
    3. British peeps

Asian peeps (nobody can tell if they are from China, Japan or where, that's why I just call them all Asian) just don't know how to behave. Russian and British peeps are just arrogant pricks.
I don't really mind the Brits, they're nice. The Russians are seemingly smug and just stare at me in a cold manner. Little do they know we're actually comrades.

What I can't get passed is the amount of money they all seem to have. Traveling around the city in groups with all this really expensive clothing and shopping bags from high end stores. Never had a problem with any though, I have to say. Now, the FOB ones that move here on the other hand...

For some reason, it always seems to be the French tourists that get lost on the subway and end up in Brooklyn when they wanted to go to Wall Street or something.

    It's happening :tuttosport:

Japan to Fund Firms to Shift Production Out of China

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...o-fund-firms-to-shift-production-out-of-china

Didn't quite know where to post this.
It's going to be a long, hard, expensive process. Companies have been trying, even before the trade war or the pandemic. China is no longer just cheap labor, they have build incredibly robust supply chains that other countries (like Vietnam) are finding incredibly difficult to replicate at scale. On top of that China itself is a huge market for most of the big Western companies that it's hard for them to pick up and leave.
It will eventually happen, but it's going to take so much longer than one hopes.

I would think you could find cheap labor and a desire for foreign investment in Indonesia, India, Vietnam etc. My company already moved all of its sourcing out of China over tariffs to various parts of South east asia

there will be growing pains but fuck China
SE Asia has been well suited for that for a while (since pre Trump years). China itself has been outsourcing to them.

I'm surprised majority of companies haven't already moved production SE Asia but not TOO surprised with American ones given their lack of knowledge and tardy re anything overseas. My guess is more Euro countries already set up shop there.

i live close to San Francisco Premium Outlets (not part of san francisco) and there are so many Chinese who come there that every sign, store etc everything written is in english and chinese. nothing else out here is in chinese. they love designer clothing that much.

i even heard a funny rumor that some of them pay for tours of san francisco and the tour guides just take them there to shop because its cheaper to give them a tour of livermore than SF.

if i flew 5000 miles to visot SF and ended up in livermore the level of disillusionment...

That’s surely false. Chinese tourist should definitely take pictures with famous landmarks, or it simply didn’t happen in the eyes of their friends and family when they go back. A photo with Golden Gate Bridge is more important than any designer apparel store. Fear of missing out is on another level there.

I will never understand that materialistic mindset.

Then again, I will never forget the time I watched some tourists take a picture with a pile of maybe 10 or so garbage bags in the street by Wall Street.

What? Japanese tourists are like the most respectful persons ever if they ask you a question or something. Don't throw them in one bag with the chinese.

Sure there is the selfie thing, but that's not only the japanese anymore.
