true, BUT 20 years ago, the uefa cup was arguably harder to win than the "european cup", it was considered as a very good cup"
yes, but CL would then really be the fight between champions of every league, and for example milan beat barcelona in the final:we beat the champion of spanish league, you beat 4th team in bundesliga(for example juve wins uefa cup beating leverkusen.

lets say only top2 is allowed, then those two teams who play in CL will rest players in the previous seria a/la liga/etc other leagues, but still there are more stronger teams in home leagues and for example juve has roma game before barcelona match in CL, and its very important to get a win against roma for example, because currently both teams have the same ammount of points and juve stand in 3th. I guess we will see a lot of sacrifices then, and wouldnt surprise if we would see a lot of differant teams in every season in europe.
true, to be honest i like cl how it is, i just think that the uefa cup has become rubbish, and this is a shame, as it used to be a good cup to watch.............now u have middlesbrough in the quater finals :disagree:

True. I think it will make for more exciting football domestically, as well. A team on the verge of getting into CL for the following season will play like hell in domestic matches. It's a win-win :)

did middle really got to top6 last season or what they won that they actually got to uefa cup?

and talking about rubbish, well roma ok, they are good again, but last season, they where rubbish also, and still got to uefa cup but thanks to only to the fact that they where in the coppa finale and against inter who already had CL spot.

yes but roma are a big club, they have star players playing for italy and brazil, middlesbrough..................compare the stadio olimpico to borough's stadium, its not the same

yeah, well i guess thats the problem. some leagues have more good teams, others not. imo seria a should have 5 teams in CL looking how things go this season. viola/roma are fighting for that last spot and who ever loose it, well it looks a bit harsh to me.

i dont know how they should do the system but something like that: winner gets automatically to groupstage, and then all other 4 will fight and who wins, will get to groupstage, who not, nothing.

actually i need more time to think what really would be a perfect system, as i said from seria a 5 teams really should be there in CL, but well can we have 5 teams from france or england? all respect to french clubs but then we might see easy wins for some teams if for example viola plays with lens or who ever is in there.

thats the problem here, some leagues have more quality sides then others.

it could be argued england could have 5 teams, tottenham have done very well and if they remain 4th should arsenal have a chance to b in the champions league?, after all they would be better than fenerbace or tel aviv

I do agree that Italy have more good sides...

I like your idea of allowing a buy for the best teams in each league, actually.

Maybe 2 matches before the group stage, then 2 out of 3...less chance for lucky upsets.

we have come close, 95-96 win, 96-97 lost but in that year we had a great team
