How is that? They defended all the time in the first 45 minutes and didn't concede until the 48th. With 9 men in the box they could have survived for 30-35 minutes, just like Chelsea did it in 2009, like Inter did it for so many minutes with a man less.
If they went defensive after the red card they might have eliminated Barca.
If it was Arsenals previous defense, and with Song on the pitch, and not a clown who lost the ball at every touch in Diaby, I would given them better chance with bunker defense. But Barca had waaaaaaaaaaaay to much of the ball, and all of Arsenals defenders except Sagna are too inexperienced/mediocre to handled the way Barca attacked them (though Djourou made crucial last tackles, showed his inexperience in several scenarios). Also too many offensive players on their midfield, lazy ones like Rosicky, and a very very tired Cesc who couldnt run after first half. They would needed more hardened ballwinners (who is just clears it afterwards), to have real shot in bunkering up tactic. But with that defense, and soft midfield, 2-1 one to overtime at best I think, but not more.

Also, Barca were two times better on 2nd half then they were on 1st, and thats despite fully dominating first half.

The team that had attempts on goal? I don't think Arsenal didn't had a shot on target.

Not even a shot on goal. And Barca even helped them out with one. Bendtnet could have changed all of that. But instead the bugling oaf did what he does best.......and fell over.

They didn't even seem interested in winning it. When they went down 3-1, they started walking around out there, taking the aggregate defeat. But the tie wasn't over yet, not in the slightest. I've seen far more fight from Arsenal over the years to expect a little more from them. So with this and their overall approach today, they are deservedly out.
Yes thats what bothered me besides the weak middleground of nothing going all defensive and neither trying to attack, they had ZERO urgency or interest to run/pressure or be aggressive in any way. They needed just one lucky goal like the first goal, but they didnt even bother to chase for it, except that one chance Arshavin created for that clown Bendtner, they didnt even attempt anything, no urgency whatsoever.

Haha good shit. This has got to be Italy's official downfall. No teams to make it past the round of 16.
Yeah, it's quite the feat. What was that about having to hit bottom before you can bounce back? The bottom is still pretty far down, it might not be until there's not even a single club that can qualify for the CL at all. :D

What's funnier is that always the same people mind when certain members here complain about Barca.
Yes, silly me, I dont buy this BS peer pressure of thinking its a conspiracy by Uefa to give the win to Barca over two legs, just because of one questionable red card, ignoring Messi scored a legit goal in first leg.

If Arsenal played as they did in 2nd half of first leg, I would get it and think they did well enough atleast. But they were really weak in this 2nd leg. Pretty lame stuff. Simply totally outplayed by a better team.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise that Arsenal were in no way winning this. Red card made no difference whatsoever. The amount of shots from Arsenal though..

You make it sound like it was a wrongly given throw in

The fucking red card changed the entire game. It buried Arsenal. It took Barca to the quarters. It was a mega decision.
And you call it "just a red card"?
