19 shots is a lot.

Although I don't agree with the red card why did RVP just shoot the ball if he didn't hear the whistle and didn't know he was offside? Surely he would have kept running with the ball to get off a shot much closer to goal.
Good point - he had plenty of time to switch to his favoured left foot ala FIFA style.

Yeah, because it was what, 35 minutes left to play? Why don't you check out stats from last years semifinal against Inter as well? Wasn't Barca all over Inter too?

The red card made a huge difference, even a dead blind cat could tell. Who cares how many shots Barca had? The score was 1-1, the game ended 3-1 after the red card.
Ok leave the stats for a while if they don't say anything like you say, even if they do tell you Arsenal had no chance of scoring. You can not blame the red card for Arsenal's downfall. They have theirselves to blame. They couldn't even string together 3 passes, they showed no attacking display, RVP hardly touched the ball as he was obviously in no shape to play. His absence made no difference to Arsenal's already shit performance. And their defense....need I say more?
You can hate Barca all you want, but to say the referee won them the game is just too ignorant.

Any red card is a game changer. It can either totally destroy a side's demeanor and defensive ability, or it can act as a catalyst for a pissed off response that could win the match.
Today it was hard to do that. They just equalized and put Barca under pressure and then, in one move, the ref puts them under pressure again. The timing of the red card is also important.

Van Persie should have been sent off for bitch slapping Dani Alves. And Wilshere should have seen red with all his tackles.

The penalty was a clear one. If there is a real man out of all the Spanish pussies playing with Barca, it is Pedro, today he was honest and didn't fall down easily, and in the first half he could have won a penalty but he stayed on his feet and didn't dive.

Mascherano is a hero and a half, love him or hate him but he saved Barca's arse towards the end.

Messi's goal is :tuttosport: and the build up for Xavi's goal is :tuttosport: x100

Wenger is not the right man for Arsenal anymore regardless of this loss. Arsenal need a new coach to take them to the next level. Wenger at Arsenal is no longer a winning combination.

And even at 3:1 with 10 men Arsenal created a 100% chance but Bendtner failed to control a perfect pass. At 3:1 with man more Barca weren't even attacking like mad. If Barca needed a goal, and with Van Persie still playing, I'm positive that Arsenal would have found themselves in at least 2-3 more situations like the one Bendtner fucked up.

No doubts at all, the referee pushed Barca in the quarters. The fact that some are arguing that says a lot to me.

And no I don't like Barca, last year I wished all Barca players dead (except for Dani Alves) and got banned from a forum for that.

So much hating on Xavi in this thread, but the biggest dolt and assclown involved in one of the fixtures today was De Rossi. One of the biggest piles of steaming dog dung I've ever seen.

I kinda disagree with this, mondolon. Yeah, sometimes there are small fouls, but most of the times it's clean. Barca are playing a nice pressing game when they don't have possession. One of the things I'd like my team to do too. We don't have the technique to play Barca's attacking football, but we could press the other team the way they do. We used to do it a lot under Capello.
they are small fouls in most times, its like small pushes and it is a foul in my opinion if u have players who knows how to benefit from it, not like the stubborn Welshere ( not sure of his name) who try to keep running with the ball (as if he in front of the goal) when he was pushed around.

I wonder why Arsenal tried to keep the play while they could have won so many fouls when it was 1-1

If u pay attention to this pushing which is most done by Pedro, Alves, Sergio, and Mascherano, matches vs Barca could be easier

This post is like 3 years late. I agree, Wenger built a great team, but has done fuck all with it, even Birmingham won more trophies than Arsenal in the last 5 years. Every season they play good football, crumble down and @ the end of the season they miserably fail.

Barca would have almost definitely won even without the contentious red card, but you still never know what might have happened if it wasn't given - Barca were all over them in the first leg and still lost. Granted that it was in London, 1 or 2 quick counters is all you need.

Red card ruined the game.

arsenal had that chance with bendtner but barca controled the game from that point on..just think at how many chances villa has wasted plus messi's stop with his shoulder. I'm surprised arsenal didn't forced more to gain posession, in the 85-90 minute arsenal weren't even running.

not arguing with the 2nd part though

Dude, Arsenal played with the same pussy mentality all match long. They never put forth the guile and heart to advance. They could have been pissed about the sending off, grabbed the match by the balls, played better defensively and edged out another goal. But they couldn't and they're out. We've come to expect more from Arsenal than just a lethargic last gasp like this one.

That's true. Nobody has mentioned that.
