Roma is close to sign Juan. It seems Chivu is on his way out of Rome straight to Inter:faq2:Another player we'll miss most probably:faq2:
We never showed a real interest in buying him :faq1: And Inter ofcourse have a bigger chance than us cuz of Pizzaro etc.

Spalletti has other issues to contend with, as after Philippe Mexes penned a contract extension until 2011 to end transfer speculation, Cristian Chivu is increasingly likely to join Inter.
“We cannot allow a player to control the club,” he noted. “No player is irreplaceable, as the only eternal figure here is President Franco Sensi.

“I tried to speak with Chivu, but his busy schedule meant he was unable to get back to me. I will talk it over with him soon to know what his thoughts are.

its a phone call how difficult can it be,its gonna take 5-20mins of his time.
their relationship mustnt be that great.
and chivu seems to want to leave the club

Forget Chivu simply cos he Isnt coming to us at all, so why all the hoping??? I understand how good it'll feel IF we purchase him but the real factor is we wont so this is silly. We cannot afford to pay alot for him.

Barca And Chivu Allowed To Discuss Personal Terms

Christian Chivu is set to become a Barcelona player within 24 horus, with an agreement between Barca and Roma almost done.

Inter had supposedly taken the lead in the race for the Romanian defender yesterday, but following Roma sporting director Daniele Prade's whirlwind trip to Barcelona, the Catalan giants are back in charge.

Their latest offer is a staight cash one, very close to the 18 million euros that Roma are demanding at the moment.

Prade spoke about the issue upon his return from Spain, and clearly indicated that he was pleased with Barcelona's offer.

"The Blaugrana offer is interesting," he said. "Roma continue to request 18 million euros for Chivu, ans while we cannot reveal the details for the sake of confidentiality, the offer is very interesting.

"We will now take between 24 and 48 hours to think about it, and then speak again.

"In the meantime, Roma have authorized Barcelona to speak with Chivu and his agent, given the great relations between the two clubs."

That Chivu can now speak with Barcelona is being taken as an indication that an agreement has been reached, at least in principle, and that only some details remain to be ironed out.

Prade refused to speak about Inter, or whether they had in between made an offer that was superior to Barcelona's. It had been suggested that Chivu was more keen to stay on in Italy, but reports today have suggested that to not be the case.

Barring a surprise, a final deal should be struck within the next 24 hours.

Good addition to Barca's defence...Now all they need is Abidal and they're gonna be one scary team next season
Speaking of which...:D

--------------------------------------

Eric Abidal is already in Barcelona, and is set to complete his move to the Camp Nou club on Thursday.

Lyon wanted 20 million euros, while Barcelona were unwilling to offer anything more than 12, causing negotiations to stall for a while.

However, Barcelona are keen to complete the bulk of their transfer business this week itself, and a fee of around 14-15m is close to being agreed.

Abidal has already been in Barcelona for over 24 hours now, officially to enjoy his vacations, but unofficially to wait for Barca and Lyon to reach an agreement so he can complete his move.

The signing will be confirmed tomorrow, following which the player will complete his medical and be presented, either in the evening, or on Friday morning.

Barcelona are confident that it is only a matter of time, as they have already allowed Gio van Bronckhorst to join Feyenoord on a free transfer

Why would we battle RM on Gabi when we can land a younger, better, proven in Serie A defender for the exact sum is something behind my understanding.
Yeah, cos it is way easier to take on Barca and Inter for Chivu. :disagree:

Chivu is a better footballer than Milito, but as a pure defender Milito is better.
