Why De Ceglie on his decidedly off wing over Seba? Sissoko is fundamental, he should be playing in any formation of ours, provided he's healthy.

The problem is though, now WE have to take the initiative. We have to score. If we're too worried about defending and the 70th minute comes along with a scoreboard of 0-0, it will be just like the other matches.

We cant, we can only defend with 4 fellows, who are fielded as soccer team defenders + Sissoko + Neddy + Marchio/Camo + 1/2 of the CM and hope that they will make a mistake and our super forwards will take advantage of it, by themselves in a moment of individual brilliance.
That may work against inferior teams, but not against teams who can sit back, trusting their defense!
If we open up a little more, we will conceded a lot of goals!
Today we tried not concede one and we failed, that was our only priority, if we sacrifice just a bit to push forward, we will concede even more.
We should try and score one goal at the second half, we failed, thats it...

You know how much i hate Capello, but his plan actually had a chance because he had the best defense in the world and two of the best DMs, we could sit back "hoping" that "the goal will come". Now, we can only... open our legs...

Playing 4-4-2 in the 2nd leg will only allow them to attack us more no matter how you look at it. 4-3-3 is attacking them before they do.

Playing 4-3-3 is the best option and the best formation Ranieri can go for. Why...


1- We will start the game by attacking them, and we better use our chances wisely, which is why 4-3-3 makes much more sense
2- Playing 4-4-2 will tire our forwards more
3- We might need more than a goal in the first half.
4- It's easier when you lead to change your tactics from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 IMHO.

The three midfielders [Marchionni - Sissoko - Marchisio] Got stamina and are fast speciall Marchisio and Marchionni, therefore it will be an advantage for us.

The problem is we must not concede first and with 4-3-3 we're much more vulnerable. Molinaro and Grygera/Mellberg will have to be perfect because if Chelsea start with 4-5-1 then they'll have 2 more men in midfield and with their very good full backs the presure will be mostly on Moli and the RB. If Chelsea have 5 men in midfield against our 3 we'll surely be taking a huge risk to concede. Plus we'll have a tough time passing through their midfield and we may easily find ourselves in position to play long balls from Chiellini to Amauri and Trez.
I'd think about 4-3-3 only if it's 0:0 until 60th minute.

100% though the problem is we'll start brightly then fade away before being engulfed in a midfield battle and BAM! Before you know it 75 mind has gone.
We should blitz at the start but then use our home advantage to build up play and set camp in their half we can pressure them into a goal. The only thing I'm afaid of is if we turn to that horrible long ball.

The long ball will appear no matter what. We just have to hope we score early to take the scoring pressure off, as it mount up as the minutes ticks on against a team like Chelsea.

Last year camo played more regularly, nedved was a year younger as was del piero, zanetti also played almost every game - he was our most creative player. NEXT PLEASE!
