If we play a 4-4-2 and not the formation that I posted then I'd have De Ceglie on the right wing because he's done it before and he can cross.
When he "did it before" though, it was for a brief part of one match. He did make a nice cross to Amauri (for a goal) in that game, you're right. However, I certainly wasn't convinced on him playing additional minutes there.

Giovinco can cross better then DC, he's a better passer who's got more pace and better ball skills. Obviously he doesn't provide the same support for whoever plays RB, but he might be able to help alleviate a great deal of pressure by simply going forward. Our width is brutal right now.

Either way, I think we agree that Marchionni needs to take a seat.

The match is too open in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Both we and Chelsea attack and i don't see Chelsea sitting back and defending.

What do you say about my formation?
4-3-1-2
The same i said about 4-3-3. I fear about conceding in the first half. It may bring us the result or it may kill us very early. It's the flanks that i fear of. If we have 3 DMCs then Molinaro will be alone against Chelsea's RB and their MR while Mellberg will be alone against the LB and ML.

But like i said, the risk may bring us the result. Now it all depends on Ranieri and how brave (some may say crazy) he is.

Again we come to our disagreement, I will never bench Amauri :D
The things is I hate playing with three forwards, and specially against a result like this, I have to pick one, Del Piero is a must (he is the only creative among the 3), and we need Trezeguet's finishing, that we lacked tonight, I hate benching Amauri too, but I hate benching the other two more at the moment..

He was a thorn in chelsea's defence i think his earned his place in the second leg. It would however be good to know what sort of condition/form trezeguet is in and hopefully the few upcoming games will give us a better indication.

The only thing I'm afaid of is if we turn to that horrible long ball.
Long ball may be the way to go.

Chelsea will pack the midfield, so booting the ball long to whatever combination of Amauri, Trez and Iaquinta may not be a bad idea.

It would need Del Piero and others to get close to them to make use of knock-downs, though.

Hoping for a 3-1, hat trick by Trezeqoal:weee:
Hope?

Why don't you expect it, you negative bastard. :p

True he was lucky against Bremen, and he did pass Real Madrid btw :p but still I don't see Ranieri doing anything better than Capello in CL not that I am complaining about it, but he is no better, he is still at second stage and could be eliminated from a team that I doubt they are going to make the final..
Capello was always too predictable. I don't see how he ever could have beaten a Real Madrid squad in Madrid, the way we did this CL season.

Far be it from me to wax about the glories of Ranieri's tactical supremacy. But given the squad we have now, Capello at the helm would be a guaranteed exit -- a telegraphed disaster we could not stop. There's still a chance we can salvage something out of this with Ranieri.

Yeah tiago is so creative he has created 4 goals in 2 years and has scored 0 goals. A real asset to the cause
Last year camo played more resularly, nedved was a year younger as was del piero, zanetti also played almost every game - he was our most creative player. NEXT PLEASE!

And no serie a is not a shit league, but the top 4 are not as strong as the top 4 of england, that has been proven over the last few years and is mainly attributable to calciopoli and billionaire's swarming the prem. And exactly, milan are only 2 points behind us, so we're not really that amazing are we....
I don't think you understand my points but thats fine.

okay how about if we played

Brazzo mellberg legro chiellini

at the back?

Im just finding any excuse to take molinaro out of the equation even though regardless what i say i know in two weeks time i will still see him there.
Molinaro certainly wasn't the problem today. Plus, brazzo is Sloooooww as hell - our D would have zero pace.

i thought he was awful very prone to a second yellow kalou made him run in circles another day like that and we could be worse off. His life was obviously made easier with chiellini, nedved and sissoko all falling close to his zone to help out occasionally

Andy was right.
Juve 51%-Chelsea 49% possession in the first half.
Juve 53%-47% Chelsea in 65th minute.

Only now Chelsea started defending.

the only positive thing i can take from this game is, that hopefully you saw how your creative wonderboy did crap tonight. he had exactly 3 good chances to create something approx. 30 metres away from goal and he fucked up three times.. most of the time doing a pass to the opponent, even when the strikers where not farer away than 10 to 15 metres
