Borriello never would have gotten into the positions that Balotelli got himself into...
The most retarded excuse for a failed striker. Half of those chances were gifted to him either by Pirlo or by the incompetent English defense. He even missed one from 1 metre. This excuse is in the same league as the failed coach excuse, who gets replaced by somebody who gets results from the same players, and says "yeah but I did build that team".

And the others can? There's nothing that proves Cassano and Balotelli shouldn't start.
The main purpose of the striker is to score the chances he gets. But this argument is pointless. Some people always tell you how much work players who completely flop a match actually do. "Holds the ball well," "does a lot of dirty work," "put pressure on the defenders," "wasn't afraid to test the gk," to name a few classic lines. The plain fact is Cassano and Balotelli were without a doubt the worst players in the Italian team (maybe Maggio too.)

Balotelli ran a lot and helped his friends. Never mind that he's playing as a CF and the only goal he's scored so far was an unnecessary one against the mighty Irish.

What has Di Natale and Giovinco done to kick Cassano and Balo out of their starting spot? Nothing.

Trust me I'm a Giovinco fan, and I still think Cassano should start.

They work the defence thin, they just need to be better on their finishing. Giovinco and Di Natale can't penetrate the defense well, and they themselves aren't great finishers either. So I would always prefer Cassano - Balotelli.

Borini should start. What has Balotelli done to deserve a start? I saw his misses. He wasn't unlucky. They were horrible shots. Either straight at Hart or weak as shit.

You are talking out of your ass. Di Natale played well and scored a goal, an important goal against a real team. Giovinco was ok in 5-10min he got. And why call up Borini and never use him? Surely that's a waste of a player. Say whatever you want, I would have called Del Piero for games like these.

Balotelli is constantly a threat.

He's miles ahead of Borini.

Tell me you think Borini should start over Balotelli.

Italy's biggest game in 6 years (since the 2006 WC final), and you guys want to start with the untried, untested, unheralded, and largely unknown quantity Borini, over the more established Balo? :howler:

I wouldn't start with Borini, but I wouldn't start with Cassano or Balotelli either after their performance. I would consider Borini as a sub before Balo though. Better untested than tested and failed.

He didn't fail anything.

Football fans nowadays think strikers should score from every chance, angle, and situation given. It doesn't work like that. Not even Messi can do that.

Stop dreaming and think Borini could do a better job than Balotelli.
