These actual top clubs you mentioned were in a much(thougher x400) tournament. And were beaten by the best clubs in the world. I also think most people/clubs in the world would prefer reaching QF/SF in Champions League than SF in Mickey Mouse Cup.

The reason i mentioned " so called " was because of their ability to buy players at higher price makes them top (Atm exception ) , you assumes we are in the same category as them ,in the past we were currently we are not but are getting there as our finances are getting better .

I'm far from a Conte hater, but yeah we did fail in Europe. Also, those teams have ridiculous money to spend. But if you're like us, and don't have oil money backing then the best way to become an 'elite' club again is to become a European powerhouse. And, that is what will help us attract top players. And, just as importantly it will help us keep our own top players.
