Conte is not a Mourinho yet to make such statements in CL, when Mourinho makes such a statement he knows the only team that can eliminate him are the finalists and not the likes of Galatasaray.

Another statement from Conte talking down on the team, what a surprise. Dortmund, Atletico even Liverpool all got to the final or won the CL with smaller budgets than us.

The players will never believe they can beat a team if Conte keeps talking down on them, he should be saying anything is possible and he believes this Juve team has a chance to beat any one.

Watch when we draw Madrid in the CL next season he will start saying we came off to back to back 7th place finishes and what this squad is doing is incredible.

There was no chance with any tactics we could have beaten Bayern last season, besides pure luck. But they were way better than everyone else and I don't think he should say that we just can't win it. Maybe something like 'we will do our best and see what happens...'

That's usually the best way to say it. The constant downplaying of our team is just annoying now. If the coach doesn't believe they are that good, what are the players going to think? It's IMO Conte's way of absolving himself of any blame if/when Juve are knocked out of any European tournament.

Saying something like Juve plays every competition with a goal to win it, but CL will be very difficult and no one can offer guarantees instead of laughing at the quality of your team, would be far more sensible.

Does it matter? It's the perception. And let's just say that the way our team plays in Europe (mainly lacking karakta and self belief, don't want to say the word pussy), seems to suggest that the team do take what Conte says to heart.

It's actually not only the comments he makes about Juventus in the CL, but the stupid comments he makes at the end of every season about the board, how he needs challengers, he's tired etc. And this is coming from a huge Conte fan and not a "hater".

You do criticize him but I don't recall you ever mentioned the fear he has and spreads in the squad. I mostly see you complain about the squad in general and the formation. I don't care about the shape of the team as much as the mentality to approach games with and as for the squad, I believe we have a very good collection of individuals that can be brilliant by themselves and coherent enough to do a collective top of the notch display.

I criticize or praise him when I see something which deserves so. His mentality is one of them, and I think Rab hit the nail on it's head when he said Conte is afraid to lose.

What's worse is how people still find ways to defend such matters in here. It's like they feel they're obliged to.

But Porto is a good marker, just like Atlético almost were, because amongst all the big money teams sometimes a less affluent one can win. That's what we will aim for, but Conte isn't kidding fans saying the CL is our target. This team is build for the QF with extra as a bonus, we are not a PSG or Real Madrid who are being built to win the competition.
