@V's advice was the little brother, the moto e. i'd avoid the 3g version, but the lte version has a decent cpu.

i'd take a look at some windows phones, too. what's your budget?

good call. in this case i'd get a moto e lte and set up a launcher to look exactly like her previous phone did.

Well her previous phone was a Motorola flip feature phone, so doing that would be stepping backwards.

I exchanged my Nexus 4 with a local brand named Vivo. It's pretty good for the price, and my mom likes it, so done deal.

I'd go for the Moto E 2nd Gen too. I got Ruhee's mom one and she loves it. Just be prepared to find you mom on Whatsapp all the time

Nexus 5X is pathetic, prolly the worst Nexus ever. Nexus phones used to be cheap and powerful, this one is quite the opposite.

Anyone experiencing loss of 3G/4G connection? I understand my Samsung Galaxy S4 isn't exactly new anymore but I've had this problem ever since I got the phone. A friend has the same issue with her Galaxy S4.

It happens quite often, at least a couple of times a day when I use the phone. Quickest way to resolve is it is to reboot the phone.

how old is your sim card?

also, are you sure it's not a hardware issue? if your phone is still under warranty, you might try to return it.

sometimes software solutions like turning off the 3g/4g and sticking to edge or selecting automatically preferred network provider might help.

I'm not sure it's not the sim card, it could be. But it's not too old, I got it just before the phone, might be a year ago or so. I've tested using LTE only and 3G only, still had the same problem. I'll check out that link, thanks
