What's the real advantage of 2.2? I guess it would be faster but I find the phone to be fairly quick anyway. Anything else I'd get with 2.2?
Here's the changelog from Wiki:
On 20 May 2010, the 2.2 (Froyo) SDK was released.[15] Changes included:[16]
General Android OS speed, memory, and performance optimizations[17]
Additional application speed improvements courtesy of JIT implementation[18]
Integration of Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine into the Browser application
Increased Microsoft Exchange support (security policies, auto-discovery, GAL look-up, calendar synchronization, remote wipe)
Improved application launcher with shortcuts to Phone and Browser applications
USB tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality
Added an option to disable data access over mobile network
Updated Market application with batch and automatic update features[17]
Quick switching between multiple keyboard languages and their dictionaries
Voice dialing and contact sharing over Bluetooth
Support for numeric and alphanumeric passwords
Support for file upload fields in the Browser application[19]
Support for installing applications to the expandable memory
Adobe Flash 10.1 support[20]
Support for extra high DPI screens (320 dpi), such as 4" 720p
Because both phones you mentioned seem to be released just for the sake of releasing where the Desire HD is still their flagship. All manufacturers released great devices at the MWC except HTC which were just satisfied by, as you said, decent upgrades. That and a lame tablet.
True, but at least these phones have the much needed front facing camera, and higher RAM, plus a GPU. I wouldn't upgrade my Desire to the Desire S, but for you, it is a pretty feature-filled phone.
